My fiancée and I split the bills evenly and then buy whatever we want

  2. learning how other people do finances is always one of the more fascinating things to me; fully onboard with the idea that different things work better for different people, the way some couples describe it would never work for me, and vice versa

In 4 years we got no student loan relief at all because Biden didn’t do anything about the courts. All most of us got under Biden is payments restarting

All bills used to go through my spouse while I paid down my student loans; when she was on maternity leave, I took over the bills. Then she resumed. This was our status quo for years since she made 2x what I did.

Now I make the bulk of our income, and she works PT. All her income goes into her 401k (does not max it out). I pay all the bills, max the rest of our retirements I can from my income, save for kiddos college.

We adjust where bills come from based on what makes the most financial sense as a family unit. Now that we've both either been established long enough in careers/taken breaks/paycuts at various times, our individual net worths are more in parity—with her still notably higher since she has been in the workforce and saved longer than I have.

We are lucky to both be financially independent and make relatively the same amount, so we have one shared account that we put one paycheck into each month. Then we have our own accounts that we can use however we want. Works well for us.

Okay, but what does it mean specifically for people like me who are on the SAVE Plan and currently in forebearance because of it being on hold?

Once it comes out of forebearance it will have to go on a different IDR plan. I think they are still in the court of appeals though, so they could still win and maybe SAVE is…saved

I think the answer right now is no one really knows. It's going to be a mess to figure out and they can't just restart payments since no one know what they're supposed to be paying.

This is definitely a time when a president should say they made their ruling let them enforce and just fire the servicers and put everyone’s student debt to 0

My wife and I are going on being married for 10 years and have never shared a bank account.

I can’t let her find out about me subscribing to a website called Chorus FM.

Got engaged recently and we're planning to do a joint account for the bulk of our money and still keep our personal accounts with a couple hundred going in those for whatever we want to spend it. Opening a new account and re-doing direct deposit seems so annoying right now.

Married and we have one bank account that we share. We go over the previous month's budget at the beginning of the month together. But, my money is my money and her money is also my money
