  1. I think they fell off quite a bit on the later albums, but I recently did a discography run and Say No More and a lot of Suburba still hold up.

The End is Not the End is a near-perfect album for me. I also really love Cold Hard Want

love them. One of my favorites. I can remember getting “If” for free from the Amazon single of the week or something and playing it over and over and over. Then the album came out and it stayed in my car for years.
Suburba and CHW and Colors are all great in one way or another too. One of my favorite groups. Woah I had been able to see them in Ohio for their 10 year shows.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

The run from The End is Not the End -> Smoke are all great records and all attached to pretty vivid memories in my mind. Liked Colors a lot also, just never listened to that one as much.

I think there was a pretty extensive podcast interview with Tim from a while back where he talks about some career mistakes and mishaps that probably cost them from getting bigger.

I just revisited Colors and really enjoyed it. So interesting that they went out on what is essentially a rock opera. I should go back and hit TEINTE, Suburba, and Cold Hard Want now.

They gave an interview a few years ago where they said they were working on an EP...never materialized, unfortunately. The fact they keep doing album anniversary shows around Christmas makes me hope they could still do something as a band someday.

If you can find that episode, let me know! I've always wished for them to find a way to keep going.

It might be The Pirate Satellite podcast with Ethan Luck. He tells a story about Island Records pursuing them for a few months and then deciding to sign Fall Out Boy instead of them lol

This might be it. I do remember that story. I think Tim said he was pretty egotistical and playing kind of hard to get to the label, and the label was like, "Whatever, we have another band in mind" and immediately signing FOB.

    Yep, exactly. Wild story tbh

Also, wonder why they didn't sign them anyway, in addition to FOB..

Wow, that's crazy! Who would have guessed that's who they were competing with at the time. A lot of vocal talent in both bands...

Another detail in the story is that the label took some of their songs (House of Heroes, for those still following along) and "re-edited" them and told them "our version of your songs will be very successful, your versions won't be..." paraphrased. The band didn't like that, unsurprisingly.

Also remember this episode of Your Favorite Band where they talked about the label/FOB stuff. They also turned down a tour in 2005 that would have been with MuteMath and Paramore. And then later got turned down to open for AAR and Anberlin in separate tours. So many "could have beens" with the band...

Dang…I know Tim and his wife Stephanie had an Airbnb in TN at one point and I always wanted to go. Don’t know if they still do but thought that was a random bit.

My friend Zane just put out my album of the year. He wrote all these songs after a man drove on the wrong side of the interstate and hit him head on, leading to a year of pretty intensive rehab. I feel like this whole site would dig it honestly:

same, literally would have never known/gone were it not for the wife. she grew up with the drummer in Anberlin (who I guess is also the drummer for The Word Alive) and he reached out and offered tickets/backstage access. show is even sold out
