the new Foxing and Chat Pile songs go great together. there's a double bill I'd like to see.

I don’t know what I just listened to. Not what I expected at all.

I haven't listened to the new Foxing track because I'm saving it for release but I love the new Chat Pile song, love to hear them explore their nu-metal influence a bit more

a burst and I'm awake now Supporter

Bounced off both songs pretty hard on first listen, Greyhound has grown on me since then but still not sure about Hell 99. I probably need to stop expecting another Dealer from them and getting disappointed.

  6. Yeah after two very different albums plus "Greyhound" I think you would be setting yourself up for failure with that mindset lol. "Hell 99" is the future, get with it

Both songs haven’t really moved the needle for me tbh

Starting to think I’m just a fan of Dealer and NMG, not Foxing overall

  8. Given that and the fact that "Dead Cat" is less than 2 minutes long I fully expect it to be a false grind track

Played “Hell 99” for my 8-year old daughter and she was not a fan.

  10. They are never making another Dealer. While still excellent it's my least favourite of their records. How they've gone from a moody and introspective record like that to two (and what sounds like three) straight 'fuck it we'll do what we want' records needs to be studied, absolutely insane trajectory.

My two year old seemed confused.

I’ve liked everything they’ve made and I’m sure if they wanted to make another Dealer it would be fantastic!

    obliterate all prior things

This will be controversial proly but imo foxing is the best example I can think of with production/studio decisions tarnishing (to my taste) an otherwise flawless LP. Maybe that's intentional experimentation/subversion? I'm not sure. I do see Connor as an auteur, so I'm inclined to think most of it is very intentional. I actually get upset at the mix of the guitars especially on Dealer and Albatross. I had to see them live to "get it", which I do now 100%, but yano.
Like half of NMG and DDTM doesn't quite work for me, while the other half could be my favorite band.

They have yet to make a perfect record in my mind. All of their releases have towering, iconic tracks that will live on as classics. They are one of the best doing it in terms of subversion and curating an enigmatic aesthetic. Add to all of this incredible live performances. I just can't get any of their albums to work for me in full, and I find discog runs especially a little tough.

That being said 737 is huge. hell 99 is huge. gameshark is huge. grand paradise is huge. the magdalene is huge. Beacons is huge. Speak with the dead is huge. 5 cups is huge.

also i never see anyone talking about this, but i've always heard modest mouse in these boys, to a much greater degree than BN (not to start this shite again)

Modest Mouse has some good songs but I did a full discography run somewhat recently and felt like there was way more miss than hit for me

lonesome crowded west and moon & antarctica are perfect records

  24. The Moon & Antarctica is The One, although they have one of most consistent discographies in indie-rock ever. Their "worst" album would be a very strong entry for pretty much any other artist

  25. I'm trying to think what it would be like to hear "Ocean Breathes Salty" and think their is nothing interesting happening in that song
