I don't browse on my phone, but at first it got me with my computer monitors...

Also yeah, I agree, I'm glad Tom is having fun in blink-182 again and isn't trying to force it like he was during Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs era (though I do have a slight bias towards that era since I got into blink after they broke up (found them thanks to early days of YouTube in 2007/2008) and Neighborhoods was the first album of theirs I was actually around to anticipate)

No Fun - Very cool guitar riff. The vocal melody will need to grow on me. Could do without the intro and have it just start guns-a-blazing.

All In My Head - Very California and I'm all for it.

No Fun is great. I really like that only Mark, Tom and Travis are credited as writers of these songs (at least in spotify)

Random thought here, but it's really hard to tell if some of these underwhelming responses are just due to fatigue and bias or if they're actually inferior songs. I tend to think that stuff like "No Fun" was just an lesser song (as it was left off the album for some reason), but also, I don't think I could ever listen to these deluxe songs unbiased.

Like, it's impossible for me to know if I would have liked "All In My Head" even more if it were maybe the second or third song I heard from the One More Time sessions instead of the 21st track. We've just heard so many tracks from the last two years that there's no real way that it's going to sound fresh at this point.

I’m going to have it under its own thing. OMT is already #1 for me on last fm when it came out less than a year ago, throwing another 8 tracks on it will keep it there forever haha

  7. I think I'll do the same. Since they gave it a very much a "part 2" name. And I'll only put these 10 songs in it. And let it be a separate thing. COmpared to Cali, which I have both deluxe and regular songs in that.

I think it's also the fact that some people have certain expectations for the band and where they see/want the band to go. Honestly, if blink had never broke up in 2005 then the album (or albums) following the 2003 album could have been something crazy and progressive for them, but sadly we never got that. Instead we got them split up, and then we got +44 and AvA for a few years. They came back together into a forced reunion with unresolved issues where it was basically +44 and AvA mixed together under Neighborhoods and more AvA in Dogs Eating Dogs. At this point, I guess you could argue that it was still progressive, but was also a Frankenstein of a band.

Then unfortunately Tom got kicked out (or quit due to more miscommunication) so then we get blink-182 with Matt Skiba (and Tom being both inactive and slightly active with AvA (and one solo album)). At this point they do a regression in their sound going back to basics, which also kind of forms some cracks in the fanbase because not only is blink-182 still continuing without Tom, but is a regression. Before I continue, I do have to mention that at this point (and I was around to read the discussions) there were still two camps during the Neighborhoods era (so California isn't solely to blame) There were people that wanted a return to a classic sound (which they got with California (just sans Tom)) and those that wanted a progressive sound (which they got with Neighborhoods and DED).

As I said before, I stopped following the band when Tom wasn't there so I'm not really that knowledgeable to speak on the Nine stuff (just that I didn't like Blame It On My Youth), but I guess that was more of the same? Though what I've learned is that album had outside songwriters which I guess people had an issue with. I don't know... Not going into that stuff.
    *
Then blink brings Tom back in and I guess some people have some expectations about how the band should be again. Apparently some of the stuff from the Skiba era carried over (like outside songwriters and throwaway songs) and I guess it isn't fully what people wanted.

Honestly I'm in the camp that's just happy getting whatever and whenever while we can still get it. As we've seen with Fenix Tx, things don't always go as we want and tragedy can (and will strike) so it's good to just enjoy what we have while we could still have it. I've legit seen people say they'd wish blink would stop releasing music for ten years so they could put out some crazy stuff, but to me that's insane... As the title track basically said "I don't wanna act like there's tomorrow
I don't wanna wait to do this one more time" or in short "Tomorrow's not Guaranteed" and I'm just here to enjoy what we're getting. Not getting upset over what should be, what could be, and what I want. Plus as we've seen in the past years, "One person's trash, is another person's treasure"

That being said, do I have some issues with blink? Yeah, I have some complaints (not going to get into them now) that carried over from the first reunion, but in the end it doesn't matter... I'm just happy to have proper blink again, with warts, blisters and all.

*I'll be honest, at that point in my writing I was starting to lose steam and wanted to wrap up my post, but glad I was able to write the rest of my thoughts. I might have missed some things, but I hope I did my best explaining things.

Ultimately an expectations versus reality type thing.

Also, just jammed the new songs while out for lunch. Would have loved ALL IN MY HEAD on the album. NO FUN is a pretty solid b-side.

Also I feel like if All In My Head was released as lead single before OMT came out people would absolutely love it….but as someone said, at this point we got pretty much 20 tracks prior that have similar sound and it will hardly do that ,,WOW” effect for you. I still love it.

I can’t wait for ,,One Night Stand” though, from that small bad video of the song playing out of speakers, it definitely sounds like AvA Lifeforms kinda song and I fucking LOVE Lifeforms!

  13. Idk this isn't that deep. These are simply inferior to the main album and feel like they needed more work. Like it was said earlier some transitions don't sound that fluid and overall the songwriting isn't up to what they gave us last year. But it's okay, they're b-sides for a reason and I knew what I was getting (again, having California Deluxe in mind). I had zero expectation so I can't say I'm disappointed. If there's a highlight or two on the remaining songs, it's cool.

Listening to OMT pt. 2 on Apple Music and some of Tom’s vocals are just MIA on songs. I’m listening with AirPod pros. Idk if it’s just me but for example in MTYK he sings ‘words that we’ll never write, what for the’ and never says phone to ring…

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

This is because whoever transcribed the lyrics thought he said “wait for the fuckery,” and it was then censored on the clean version of the album.

Apple Music incorrectly has the clean version of MTYK in the Part 2 album at the moment.

IMO it’s a “thanks, I hate it” thing. Any music in addition to an unbelievably strong comeback record is icing on the cake to me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion if they don’t like the new songs. IMO it’s cool to use some unreleased songs and a quick run and gun session in the studio between strenuous touring without over thinking it. Not expecting their greatest release. Psyched to see what they put out for a fun encore to OMT

Feeling quite pleased with my decision to not relive my youth at Reading Fest and instead watch it from my sofa. I think blink are on in 1h45m or so?

Flawed as it is, I LOVE the last reading performance that is on YouTube right before Tom left again. So glad the misfits cover got pro shot. Always kills me when they have that extended shot of that teen who has no idea what is happening. Hope this performance makes its way online.

it's because the "official" lyrics are "wait for the fuckery" so it's edited/clean. But he actually sings "wait for the phone to ring". Weird disconnect for sure.
