Ally Pally has become a very popular venue in recent years for bands to do as a one-off "yeah we're big enough to headline Ally Pally" flex. Sort of a stepping stone on the way to playing arenas consistently.

Can not get into neck deep no matter how
    many times I try.

  3. It's been weird to see bands that came up in TWY's shadow start to surpass them in popularity. It's not just Neck Deep in the UK — Hot Mulligan headlining over them at Is For Lovers Fest, and the Story So Far tour hitting a room twice as big as TWY has ever headlined in Chicago both immediately come to mind.

TWY is just more mature than the majority of show going audiences now.

Same. I've literally never listened to nor do I have any buddies who have listened to Neck Deep lol. Had no idea they were more popular than Wonder years.

Yeah, quite a lot of them have played it. It’s been years since I’ve attended a gig there, but I have seen Brand New, Basement, Frank Turner, and Sum 41 headline there in the past.

Sadly, the venue is a bit of a nightmare to get to and from, and generally it was quite badly organised in my experience. Undoubtedly a cool venue though.

The Wonder Years / Bully Boy 1 degree of separation appeals greatly to my 34 year old dad life ass.
Also the fact I'm 34 and home with my kids, and a TWY super fan, and have no interest in Neck Deep or TSSF, might explain why TWY don't pull as big crowds....

  11. Nah, Neck Deep are a terrible, bafflingly popular band fronted by a fucking chode and if not for the exposure this will undoubtedly give their support acts (money talks, I get it) I would say it's beneath them both.

I liked a couple of songs off Neck Deep's debut, everything I've heard since suggests they're not interested in evolving musically or lyrically, and knowing they have allegations of sexual misconduct didn't incline me to listen to more.

Just sucks that they get to be one of the successful "new pop-punk" bands while significantly better bands play support slots for crumbs.

EDIT: Not their debut, the one they did with the guy from ADTR, which I thought was their debut but is actually their second album.

Show up early for One Step Closer. All You Embrace is one of my favorite albums of the year.

    Things have changed.

I think it's great they're able to support after virtually headlining everything for the last decade.

Will never understand how Neck Deep have so many listeners each month. They have 1 great album and everything else ranges from okay to atrocious.

This tour was so good. TWY on their best album, Real Friends first UK shows, and Neck Deep before they even had an album out. Went to the Manchester date and I remember my back was absolute agony the next day lol.

Fun fact from looking up the setlist, that tour (and Leeds specifically) was the live debut for Devil in My Bloodstream

As someone who has barely listened to both, I always get Neck Deep and Knuckle Puck mixed up.

You'll never guess who supported Neck Deep at their Ally Pally show

If being an opener on that tour felt like a good decision to the band, I trust them. Agreed it's a bummer, but if it lets them play some cool venues and might get them some new fans, I'm all for it. I'm sure it's kind of a relief to them to just get to put together a fun hour-long set instead of having to headline too.
