I genuinely wish I could be as optimistic as you, but I think more Yankee fans were inspired to root for the Red Sox after the 2004 ALCS than anyone who was inspired after last night's speech to vote for Kamala after previously considering Trump. We just don't live in that kind of political environment anymore.

I’m gonna put this on record now—I won’t just vote for Kamala, I will campaign, phone bank, and canvass for her if she commits to an arms embargo

There are people IN THIS THREAD! who said they were going to vote for Kamala until her speech last night. It’s entirely false to claim that people are looking for a reason not to vote for her. I WANT an arms embargo! I want to vote for Kamala! I want her to do the good thing! She’s the one being obstinate!

It's frustrating. I've never even implied I won't be voting. I live in MA so my vote hardly even matters (it doesn't at all.)

It's so fucking irritating to see people act like it's a moral obligation to not criticize a person running for president for incredibly reasonable objections.

A large portion of this thread: "You want a cease fire so badly? Use your leverage to get one"
A handful of posters: YOU MUST FUCKING WANT TRUMP TO WIN

And then you get indignant and self-righteous at us?

That's what I'm saying tho lol. Him and Nate, they weren't gonna vote except if that was said. And it wasn't. Because she doesn't need their vote, she's trying to get the rest of the public. The people who care about more than JUST that single issue.

And yeah she both sides Israel and Palestine last night which tbh was better than nothing but also disappointing attempt when she could e said more, but even that isn't enough for some people.

That's why I said sorry to people who wanted to hear what they wanted to hear. They weren't getting ceasefire with that speech. She appealed to a completely different crowd. Not the Dylan's or nates.

Okay, then stop getting mad at people who are disappointed. She doesn’t need their vote, that’s her to call to make. Again, we are talking about the mass slaughter of children. People arent asking to abolish the commodity form. This isn’t an unreasonable ask

  12. Can someone smarter than me explain whose votes Kamala would be losing by doing this? What am I missing?

Which voting block, and where, is moving from her to Trump if she says "I will not send more weapons to the place currently indiscriminately killing innocent citizens" ...?

Is it purely to avoid "abandoning Israel" headlines? Is that it?

“Even empty rhetorical gestures like we’ve been hearing regarding Palestine for decades that do nothing to stop innocent people being systematically slaughtered wasn’t enough” is a wiiiiiiiiild sentiment lol

actually I was never gonna vote for Kamala or Biden or any Dem nom. But if she was to do an embargo I would use my vote and compromise.

Exactly!!! If you are that wedded to Israel you’re voting for Trump anyway! Who cares!

According to a few people in here, yes. Some of them have said it would fire up AIPAC to beat the Dems, and some have outright said that “the Jews” will vote for Trump if she committed to an embargo.

Which again, is fucking pointless because half the country is still convinced and hearing every day "They hate Israel. They are basically Hamas." What is the fucking point?

if it’s AIPAC, I feel like those demons would try to find both sides anyway. its the crux of their electoral strategy of their white supremacist project.

I think it’s better at this point to accept that Dems aren’t a Zionist party because it ensures electoral success - it is actually just a thing the party stands for because it is an extension of American empire.

I'd honestly probably be 10% less irritated by all of this if her campaign wasn't really framed around the word Joy

If she pivots center/right and loses the left and the election, it’s the left’s fault for not supporting her unconditionally. If she pivots left and loses the center/right and the election, it’s the left’s fault for demanding she move left instead of supporting her unconditionally.
