It’s wild that the ask has dropped to hearing from a Palestinian voice, and the DNC isn’t budging an inch. They can’t even listen to someone against them and continue to do nothing, they have to silence dissent and then do nothing. It’s really pathetic at this point.

If you’re the Dems, you don’t have to campaign on ending the war outright via arms embargo to at least show some movement and empathy on the issue. Like I do think a lot of people here underestimate the impact a “Dems are abandoning Israel” narrative would have on support, and unlike the flailing we’ve seen from the GOP and Trump campaign in recent weeks, they already have the groundwork and experience of trying to exploit that issue so I think it would become an effective attack, but you can mostly avoid all that simply by saying “We are looking at all options and will talk to Netanyahu about a reduction in arms supplies if he’s not going to use them in ways we deem responsible” or something like that, which is something we do to a lot of other countries with our arms sales iirc. Just send the message that this is unacceptable and if it continues we may have to rethink current policy or something. It’s not an easy line to walk but it is doable. Obviously that’s not good enough to help right now, but it at least opens the door to possibilities in the future. Trying to flat out ignore it or not let someone, who seemingly has a pretty respectable speech and I think is an elected Dem in the Georgia state legislature, speak, is a bad move IMO. But if you’re not going to let them speak then you gotta try and say a little something more about how you’ll get the ceasefire you’re campaigning on. Open the door to something different than what you’re doing now.

 

At some point after multiple people have gone out of their way to explain, at length, why it's profoundly fucked up to excuse the US enabling genocide for the sake of making a genocide-enabling candidate seem more electable—and you still insist upon it—you’re going to be compared to a nazi because what you’re advocating for is materially the same.

 

No, 2016 was closer as far as contentiousness but after 4 years of Trump and Biden verbally moving left, which for him isn’t much, but still it made it easier to swallow.
Neither election had the kind of issue we’re seeing in Gaza though.

See this is where you lose me. I'm not seeing anyone JUSTIFY the genocide, to defend it, or anything. I don't think you know what that word means. I've condemned it on a personal, on a moral, on every level. My voting to keep Trump out of office doesn't automatically invalidate my condemnation of the genocide. My voting to keep him out of office doesn't mean I'm pro genocide. Guess what, you can care about more than one issue lol. Fucking brainless.
