RIYL: Dua Lipa and pig squeals I know they don't do that anymore and the new album is legitimately fantastic death metal

we’re getting way off topic here but least year the acacia strain was almost my AOTY and this year it’s JFAC, with a potential FFAA contender coming soon. the deathcore renaissance (for bands not named Lorna Shore) has been great

I need to check those FFAA singles out. Deathcore was my thing when it first came out, but I grew tired of it pretty quick, but bands that seem to spread their wings from that scene still seem to resonate with me.

On topic: Radical Optimism is easily in my top 5 albums of the year, flop or not.

I never really came around to this album in a big way, it's nice summer vibes but I never really found much more than that

I enjoy it every time I put it on and basically do not think about it at all outside of those monthly instances. Feels like it needs 1-2 more really great songs.

The record is great but it could have been so much more. I really enjoy KPs production here, however it feels like there was some outside interference here.

Tame songs always tend to have a slow build into a climax, these songs don’t have the space to breathe in the typical pop verse-chorus-verse format. The extended versions are cool (some of them) but they’re not really adding a ton to them.

I would’ve preferred this been an entirely KP production to help with the cohesiveness. Chop down the record to 8-9 songs and give them some bridges/outros.

Feels like they’re chasing a hit here instead of delivering a cohesive statement.

U.S. tour fall 2025, 22 dates. The NYC date is supposedly September 17, 2025.

    ~allegedly~

this has me thinking we might get another record before the tour. That’s a long way out but makes sense for her to launch at Coachella now.

I wish she was performing at the VMA’s this week, seems like a bit of a missed opportunity. A These Walls performance would be great to see!

Where I read that from didn’t say, but that would be my guess. It’s alleged anyways so who knows if it’s accurate. I think if it’s true she will have another album out by then since Radical Optimism will be over 1.5 years since this album was released. I’m still a bit surprised at the slow drip feeding of tour dates and that the U.S. tour hasn’t been announced (unless it’s actually fall 2025 then it’s still too early to announce), but if she’s headlining Coachella 2025 I can see that being the launching pad for announcing the U.S. tour and possibly whatever is coming next musically.

Interesting, where'd you read it? If she does select cities, she might be able to do ballparks in NYC, Chicago and LA.

quite bizarre to tour a record 18mos after it was released, especially when it had minimal impact in North America.

Europe didn’t even get a proper tour, they got the festival sets with minimal production. This whole roll out has been weird.

maybe she has an EP or something coming with the tour?
