IDK, Trump's was pretty disastrous too, and I'd even say some of the actions he took on Israel/Palestine helped provoke what eventually happened. Back in the day before primaries were a thing it was a multiday thing because people would go there and stump for their preferred candidate and try to influence hte smoke filled back rooms and etc. Once the parties democratized the nomination process, it really is a big waste of time. Though I guess it gives your party a chance to use a national platform to espouse your beliefs and policies and etc.
