Like, surely there's a studio that's like, to James Cameron or whoever, "Hey, we want a new Terminator movie on the level of Terminator 2, and we won't make one until we're satisfied"

People are generally too harsh on the Terminator sequels. The biggest problem with the series is that no one has come up with a more fearsome opponent than the liquid one.

I really like the third one personally but that could be because it was the first one I was alive for. Don’t really care for the rest, but they’re not unwatchable.

Who even owns the rights to that Franchise?

The man’s 86, so hopefully it’s not the one thing we’re all thinking of.

    And as for Skydance Media:

"On July 7, 2024, Skydance announced its intent to merge with Paramount Global in an $8 billion transaction, under an agreement in which Skydance would acquire Paramount's privately-held controlling shareholder National Amusements, and then perform an all-stock merger with the company. The transaction is expected to close in 2025."

So being under Paramount in the future, I suppose this could mean a future Terminator film gets a bigger budget?

It is my continued opinion that Salvation was a fine film and had the right idea of moving past the time travel shenanigans and just focusing on the war.

Its my favorite sequel too; humans were still on a relatively level playing field, and I liked the idea of having their resistance led from a submarine. Some pretty cool visuals throughout the film as well.

Salvation taught us that the actual machine war wasn't very interesting in the same way that Prometheus taught us that the origins of the alien were not very interesting.

Terminator 3 was fine but I really disliked the casting choice for John Conner tbh. Think a different actor could have brought that movie up a bit.

I also enjoyed Salavation but was a slight step down for me. BUT wanting to see the war/overall story and where it was going was enough for me to want more.

What movie role has been played by the most actors? John Connor has to be up there. I am not counting stuff like Romeo or anything like that.

Wait, Alien: Earth takes place even before Prometheus? That seems... ill-advised.
