I kept trying but I couldn’t get into Apex it bored me but somehow Fortnite kept me coming back

Preseason Week 2 (first half only)

-Mac Jones is a "good backup" but he belongs on a second team. He played solid but you don't want to see "solid" from a former first round pick in the preseason, you want to see ballsy and treating the game like it's practice. I honestly think 10-7 was low, we shoulda been winning 20-7 at halftime. It is nice to have a backup who knows what he's doing, but the Patriots weren't wrong at all to move on.

-Tank Bigsby finally looks like college Tank Bigsby again. Basically every play was him turning absolute shit blocking / poor situational leverage into 5+ yards. If he can replicate that during the regular season that'll be a MUCH needed weight off of Etienne's shoulders when teams are focusing heavily on stopping his stretch / outside zone runs. I love our RB room with Etienne at 1 and D'Ernest Johnson as the "surprise you with his elusiveness sometimes" RB3, if Tank Bigsby can be the scrappy downhill RB2 i thought he was when we drafted him.

-Offensive line still the worst part of our team. I'm not excited to see how that looks in the regular season when guys are hurt and amazing pass rushers and exotic blitzes are getting thrown our way. We will repeatedly be tested by our opponents to prove that we can overcome constant blitzing in order to remain competitive. We failed those tests last year and we still have mostly the same exact guys on the line.

-Parker Washington has taken advantage of every opportunity that's been handed to him. It sorta annoys me that Kirk is best in the slot, because i think our WR corps would legitimately be better with BTJ and a Kirk-caliber receiver on the outside and Parker in the slot, rather than BTJ wide, Kirk in the slot, and Gabe Davis as an NPC WR who is force-fed schemed open looks. (Sorry Matt, Morgan and Jared)

-Elijah Cooks did the opposite. My heart broke for him as he threw probably a couple million dollars away tonight. Two BEAUTIFUL, NFL starter looking targets & throws by Mac, great route by Cooks, great extension for the ball... except he DROPPED both. Only two chances he was gonna get to show he deserves red zone and third down targets in the regular season when BTJ is hurt or Davis is tired. Instead, he showed why he's WR6. Duvernay >

-Matt was wrong about Ventrell Miller, i Like Him as a backup. Meanwhile, Chad Muma was the only second team guy who got subbed out after the first series because he had shown enough lol. He had two tackles that stopped a dude like a cement wall and really fired me up. Old school sledgehammer type player, but with a good understanding of angles and how to tackle much faster dudes before he loses the opportunity. He could get a LOT of tackles if we started him at SAM linebacker, which recent depth chart updates indicate we will.

-No notes from our secondary, really. on the DL, Trevis Gipson showed up, as he should if he's pass rusher 3. Interesting though that Jeremiah Ledbetter is outperforming RRH, almost like RRH was a bad signing the whole time. "Good backup" but getting paid pass rusher 3 money.

 

oh, and Tre Flowers got his bell absolutely RUNG by friendly fire from his teammate Adrian Amos while making a physical tackle. He was clearly hurting and in pain for a few plays afterward, and still fuckin locked down his guy and later got a PBU on a would-be touchdown pass on 2nd & 10. That's a Good Backup not a "good backup". (interesting though, that I didn't see Jarrian Jones tonight. Is he already the starting slot CB??)

 

Reminder than Julian Edelman is a Super Bowl MVP and made one of the clutches catches in Super Bosl history while Wes Welker dropped a pass that would have helped ensure a Super Bowl win.

He had to play almost the whole game, Beathard only played three series before getting hurt lol. Everything Mac did in the second half was against 2nd and 3rd stringers, including one of the TDs. I’d hope a former first round pick could do that.

Hunger games to determine the 4 ppl spiff lets watch football

 

After last year, preseason results mean nothing to me. Kenny and the Steelers offense looked great and then we know what happened. So the Steelers offense doing nothing so far this preseason is whatever because of course they’re running a vanilla scheme and not necessarily game planning for an opponent.

However, I am very concerned that Broderick jones has been a turnstile. He is responsible for two of the three Russ sacks last night and just got beat badly when he was in.

Russ holds the ball too long and isn’t really mobile anymore, so if the oline is going to be trash, you almost have to play fields because he is dynamic and hopefully the positives will outweigh the negatives (they won’t).

Steelers are drafting a qb high every year until they find one lol. Unless they give Dak 60 mil next year (please don’t)

 

Yeah I don’t really care about team results. I just want to see what some individual players can do. Can they show something to make me believe they could take a leap during the season? Like, Nolan Smith still hasn’t shown me anything that makes me believe he can get a sack against a starting tackle considering he still can’t get a legit sack based on his individual skill against second- or third-string tackles lol
