Through is one of my favorites on the record. I prefer the final tracklisting and agree that the alternate version dulls the dynamics by lumping more similar songs together. It isn't as balanced.

Anyone else listened to the Courtney Marie Andrews record from this year? (The backup vocalist from Invented.) Pretty fantastic stuff, and especially great fall music. Here's the first track from the album:

So last night's Dublin show was, hands down, the best gig I've been to this year. Like, it's not even a contest.

No, they didn't play Goodbye Sky Harbour, but that was never going to be a dealbreaker anyway. LOOK AT THIS FUCKING SETLIST THOUGH. (I mean, if you want, hence spoiler tag)

Within the realm of possibility it was about as perfect a set, both in song choice and structure, as I could ever have hoped for. 24 songs, holy fucking shit. The second half of the main set (starting with Polaris) was an absolute blast. 23 had me in floods of tears and I almost lost my voice by the end of the set. Really wasn't expecting Authority Song in the encore.

So many brilliant songs, performed by a band who genuinely seem to love every minute they get to do this. I only got seated tickets, but from Always Be onwards, essentially everyone around me was on their feet. Encore was fantastic, everyone was absolutely buzzing and I was legit lost for words walking out. I waited 11 years for this, and holy fuck, if Jimmy Eat World weren't one of my favourite bands before - in and out of contention over the last few years - they sure as fuck are now. Getting emotional just thinking about this fucking band.

    That's a fantastic set

  8. IKR?? Like, aside from the long-shot GSH or the never-in-a-million-years Open Bar Reception, or maybe a live debut for Through or Pol Roger, that's a fucking bulletproof set.

Yeah that setlist is incredible. Glad you had such an amazing experience despite the lack of GSH. I can't wait to see this band come to Philly again.

  11. Well they are, made for a nice change of pace after that monstrous Pass the Baby outro and a surprisingly heavy Futures, good segue into the 'moodier' part of the set. I think it should remain in that position for a while :)

  12. Oh and I did some merch shopping last night. I have a copy of the album on standard black vinyl here, looking to sell it off.

More importantly though, I have these!

Futures will always be the heaviest song in this band's catalog so long as Jim keeps that fucking growl in there from the live set I shared a page or so back

That growl is epic but it's hard for me to forgive him for never singing that one "completely" in the last chorus live the same way it is on the record. One of the most intense parts of the song IMO. Don't think I've seen one video of him actually doing it haha. (about 3:27 on the studio version for reference)

On my Brixton academy live album he sings it exactly like in the album on that last chorus.

I'm officially so desperate that I youtube-to-mp3ed My Enemy just so I can put it on the tracklisting of my album. I NEED A DIGITAL RELEASE
