Had no preseason. Was carrying a small injury end of last year with Bologna, then off to the Euros where he didn't play a minute. Wasn't on our tour either due to timing of his holiday after the Euros.

 

I’ve thought over the last few seasons United have just been a very weirdly constructed squad. But this window has fixed some of that. They still looked a little out of sorts today but once all the new faces are out there they’ll look pretty good.

 

did enough to win by more than 1, and still some kinks to work out (need that midfielder badly), but will take that to start! Think once everyone is match fit and there's more depth on the bench that things will begin to really click

 

Our squad is still 1/3 Mourinho, 1/3 Ole, with a manager that's been trying to play a style of football that doesn't suit them.

 

Oh, of course there is. I’d wager tbat all big teams will be having similar issues regarding preseasons and injuries. I just didn’t see much today that had me in any way worried about playing United.

But, like you said, things will definitely get better over time. And it’s an improvement on last year for sure.

I think we’re going to see some mad results the first month or two of the season. Both teams tonight looks very tired in the last half hour.

There needs to be like two entire months off and then a month of preseason for the mental and physical health of so many players

I think the 4222 might be our way forward, leaning into the controlled chaos that a lot of our squad thrives on while providing the proper number of bodies in midfield. Also a really fluid formation in terms of who and how that front 6 is made up.

It’s clear Bruno either can’t or will never be asked to operate in the disciplined 8/10 hybrid a la Odegaard/KDB, Mainoo is brilliant but doesn’t have it in him to dominate or takeover a game’s midfield quite yet.

As previously mentioned it’ll be nice to see how things look post international break, scary to see flashes of last year’s team in terms of a few mental breakdowns, but last year this game would’ve been a Fulham win unquestionably and the fact they dug this out is a big deal even if it didn’t look pretty.
