Very excited for this - hoping this is a home run. Phantoms was great but certainly not their best

 

Astoria is, no lie, one of my favorite albums of all time, and the whole Materpiece Theatre, Ever After, Astoria trilogy is just a phenomenal achievement.

Astoria is also one of my favorite albums of all time. And it only very slightly has to do with The Goonies being one of my favorite movies of all time.

 

Honestly, even the singles they've released so far have made me feel a lot more optimistic about this one than Phantoms, which is my least favorite of theirs, but does have a few songs I learned to love.

 

Thanks for reminding me to do a few discog runs this month. god damn I love this trilogy. Hoping Haven is a return to form.

Just had my first child this past week, so I’m fully expecting this album to hit extremely hard considering the topic/theme

 

Wild that this comes out on Friday but I’m very excited

 

Out in NZ with VPN. This is excellent so far. I actually kinda like that the first 4 tracks were the singles so the rest is new.

 

Waiting for tomorrow, what’s the final verdict? Return to form?

 

Better than Phantoms. Doesn’t touch their earlier work.

 

Partially… more or less agree with Jason but I think there are some really strong highlights

 

I do really like how this brings back more of the “epic” symphonic sound I love from them, that’s a huge improvement over Phantoms for me. It’s still early so I’m giving it more listens. I think the songs which embrace that bombastic side the most are largely my favorites.

 

The Ever After callback at the end of Haven gave me chills. Only one spin so far, but it's a lot better than Phantoms, no doubt about that.

Also… new one is growing on me. Time will tell where I end up ranking it but I’m happy
