Given what we now know about Willis' health it gets harder to be harsh on that film.

When I saw Blade Runner 2049, these people came in to straight up drink, talk, and be on their phones. It was wild to me, like go to a fucking bar you fucking chuds.

Night takes chances with his movies and for that outside of Airbender and After Earth, I give him a pass and let the man cook

I've still never seen After Earth lol and I will never bring myself to. aa much as I love the guy, Lady is one of the worst movies I've ever seen

been meaning to revisit The Village though feels like my opinions on that one have really changed with time

  5. Lady and The Village both deserve rewatches.

The Village is his best film by a wide margin.

Listening to the blank check episode on this gives a lot of insight to his career and the choices he made particularly with avatar and after earth.

  9. Still think The Sixth Sense could be his best, but The Village is not far behind. Beautiful movie.

Signs is my favorite for sure. Beautiful movie, silliness be damned. Probably one of the most formative experiences I had at the movie theater ever.

I think the themes of The Village are much more relevant now imo and would resonate more with people today than it did in the 2000’s.

Signs is definitely his best. The Village is on the same level as The Happening

  15. It most definitely is not hahaha

  19. If you can set aside Brody laying it on thick, The Village really cemented Shyamalan's ability to create unique concepts, strong atmospheres, and iconic imagery across his films. It was mis-marketed and misunderstood at the time, but has gone on to influence a lot of the elevated horror we see praised today.

What reappraisal? It has always been great.

The "twist" is utterly ridiculous and predictable but Brody's character and acting is just laughable.

Everything else is fine and mediocre. It's incredibly hard for me to suspend my disbelief with that plot. He tried too hard to make twists to one of his movies.

The Happening works so well if you just think of it as a comedy the whole time.
