it’s certainly better than Real Stories for me, tho I never cared much for that record outside the closer (which has always been one of my fav songs by them). I want to give it more listens still, especially a nice headphones listen, but it still hasn’t clicked for me on the level of the prior 3.

Taken a few listens for it to click, but there now. It’s an unassuming little record, I’m kind of not surprised it’s been a bit lost in the noise of everything else that’s going on in the world

i listened yesterday and it's alright, it all blended together for me, they won't ever top basking in the glow and this album confirms it yet again. i guess i liked it better when jade just did everything himself. skippy is a fun one though , that one did stick out

Unpopular opinion, Basking is my least favorite of the last 4 records lol. It’s still really good, but sounds a bit too squeaky clean for my likings.

That’s actually one of the things I love about that album and one of the things I really like about this one! It really fits his sound imo.

Last song on this is so so good

  15. basking and sore thumb are very yin and yang to me as his best work, two different sides of the same coin

  16. Yunahon is the one for me tbh and the rest are about equal below that

Absolutely love Yunahon and Basking. Gave this a couple spins and thought it was decent overall. About the same amount of enjoyment I got out of Sore Thumb.

Basking was released on the day I started my drive west when I moved from Michigan to Denver so it'll always be most meaningful to me

Yunahon is my favorite, Basking is also stellar and just behind, but I also still love Real Stories & Sore Thumb. This one is probably on par with the latter 2 for me right now. I think all 5 are great albums.

basking/sore thumb/Yunahon are my favorites in that order with this following them up. I dont really care for anything before Yunahon however besides for a handful of songs.

I like the first ep actually, Expiration Date reminds me of Back In Your Head by Tegan and Sara

I think it’s very weird when people say “yep not as good as their best album smh” like jeez man I get comparisons but don’t albums deserve to be judged on their own terms this is a great album regardless of how perfect I think basking is

I’ll say it again, the tepid response is very shocking to me
