I'd be more likely to come to a different Wu-associated record first (likely something from Meth), but yeah, obviously tons of people love it for a reason, I haven't written it off or anything. It just didn't grab my personal leanings, especially production-wise (I'm sure this will anger someone, haha).

Have you listened to Liquid Swords yet?

    EDIT:
That and Ghost's solo releases are some of my favorite solo Wu stuff. OB4CL is dope as hell too, though. I haven't listened to any of those albums in years

I have not. Honestly, I came to K.M.D. and Raekwon because of their positioning of a best-of list. I'm trying to broaden my horizons a bit by taking the next year to go through a couple of top 100 of the 90's lists (the goal is to hopefully do the same with 80s in 2018, 70s 2019, etc.). Luckily, Liquid Swords is only ten spots up on the same list, so I'll get there soon.

I'm not gonna recommend all the obvious Wu solo classics because you will find those yourself, I'm just here to say that you should also listen to Inspectah Deck's "Uncontrolled Substance".

I wish you the best of luck. Hip hop specifically or all music? I did the 100s of the 80s/90s lists a while back for hip hop and a lot of it was a slog to get through. You see some flashes of brilliance and some dope songs, but most of it is clear building blocks for what's to come. I respect it and I understand why some of those tapes are important but I didn't feel like listening to a lot of them again.

Just in general. I came around to actual music appreciation very late in life, so I'm thinking that this kind of generational rollout over the next few years is maybe the best way to take the most in over the least amount of time. I can imagine that a genre-specific one would be kind of rough, haha.

I think Method Man is probably my favorite Wu member too even though I don't think his solo records are the best. I didn't discover OB4CL until years later, but it took me a little while to get into too, so maybe it'll click eventually.

I agree with him but yeah. Pitchfork does the Over/Under and then publishes it with that headline and tweets that headline to stir shit up. Really stupid. But yeah stop asking teenager rappers their thoughts on artists they weren't even alive for

    Clickbait baby who cares!

But BIG is still dope as hell. I remember taking my cousin's copy of Ready to Die after Hardball came out. Big Poppa was on every "Nick's Mix" between 5th-8th grade

Biggie is not overrated. The fact that any rap fan in the world that has heard his music does not think he's top 5 means he's underrated.

I don't care if Yachty like BIG or even listens to him, but to call him overrated just after saying you don't know his music is kinda dumb.

Could be wrong but not sure if this is sarcasm? Because I was saying that P4k knew what answer they were going to get from him. Naturally if he grew up on what was current in the mid-late 00's, discovering Biggie after the fact may be less impactful on him
