I did laugh today as alot of the press are reporting on some of the rioters in court. Some of these lawyers must just be attending to get their £££. One guys defence for looting a shop was that "the shop was already damaged and he just happened to go inside".

 

Fake rumour went round about the EDL meeting at a pub nearish me. In response, a few hundred Asian men turned up to the pub to counter protest. Looked like it might get out of hand at first, some vandalism but seems no real violence, and it seems to have calmed down quickly. Thankful for that but a shame that it will give the far right dickheads more ammunition.

I cannot imagine the EDL will dare target Birmingham tbh.

 

What's so ironic to me is that the far-right are doing exactly what they accuse others of doing in these "protests".

They're not integrating. They're literally destroying communities. They're literally attacking infrastructure. They're literally attacking police they were so mad at being harmed at Manchester Airport. They're literally now costing the taxpayers more in restoration costs and an increase in police force. They're pulling the police and other emergency services away from tending to other matters.

All the while, Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and other instigators hide away and deflect.

 

Up and down the country, people showing up to outnumber the far right immeasurably, and showing people from all backgrounds love and respect.

 

Don’t know if any of you guys followed Gallows back in the day with Frank Carter? I saw him post about the Grey Britain album. This was on the wiki for it. A bit scary…

“Grey Britain is a concept album based around post–credit crunch Britain, predicting an increase in "racism, xenophobia, knife crime and inescapable mental illness". In an article for Vice, writer Tom Connick described it as "post-apocalyptic" and as "a record so nihilistic, unpalatable and inescapably bleak it made Orchestra Of Wolves look like nothing more than a temper tantrum".[33] The album's final track makes direct attacks against the Metropolitan Police Service, Catholicism, the National Front, rapists, child abusers and racists.[35]

In 2019, Vice praised it for its accurate prediction of "fractured Brexit Britain" and lead vocalist Frank Carter stated "We were writing about a post-apocalyptic future in London. And, unfortunately, now… I’m living in it".

 

I wish Frank would go back to Gallows rather than doing what he's doing now which is so hit and miss (although he is still so good live). That album is probably the best album from the UK hardcore scene in the 00's. So brutal and bleak but completely timely.

 

Pretty bleak.
