i guess that new resource pool from Indian Paintbrush probably means they can do stuff like this and not have it be the biggest financial risk? but i agree, this will probably see more sales when discounted (although $400 - since it's 50% off MSRP - is still steep)

 

I'd shell out good money for a Kurosawa boxset. I'd imagine 4K Seven Samurai is in the works now, I can't imagine more Kurosawa 4K's are far behind.

 

Question for everyone, how many of the films in that set do you already own? I have nine of them in my collection.

most of my physical Criterion releases are Lynch, but i've watched a handful of these on the Criterion Channel

 

I have five of them via Criterion, I also own a copy of The Night Of The Hunter but that’s the 4K Kino Lorber release.

 

I only own two and have seen four.

Apparently the Seven Samurai 4K doesn’t have HDR/Dolby Vision, which personally I don’t think matters all that much for a B&W movie but people are already big annoyed online about it.

 

i can get the frustration about the lack of HDR for something like In the Mood for Love (although idk if the controversial color grading is the only one on the UHD or if both versions are), but Seven Samurai?

 

People who swear there’s a difference are the same people who swear their crazy expensive audio equipment lets them hear John Lennon fart at the 2:00 minute mark of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

 

November releases are top notch

 

Looks like Evil Does Not Exist is coming to Janus Contemporaries. A little surprised by this, with Drive My Car already in the collection seems somewhat silly to not just put this in the main collection. My one issue with the Janus series is it can seem a little redundant and might deny us from a bigger release with more special features.
