Too many

 

A few have been critical of my viewpoint on Cori, I have honestly 0 personal investment or knowledge or even opinion on her congressional race, I was just talking about the perception of voters not my perception and why you see vocal members lose elections, both parties.

 

Adin Ross, what a gem, "On March 4, 2024, Ross dared a 19-year-old man to drive his car into the Burrard Inlet at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody, British Columbia. After the police were notified, the man was arrested at the scene. The incident received negative attention from those who visit the park." Fits right in with MAGA.

 

My wife is on TikTok a lot and she mentioned this to me last night, saying how relatable it was and that it made her cry. That second video in particular describes my wife and her father to a T. My father in-law was a plane engineer his entire life for one of the major airlines, served in the Navy, created and developed his own Aquaponics company in his later years starting from an Aquaponics farm he built himself in his own backyard, and then...slowly lost his mind to Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Alex Jones. The man, whether he'd be willing to admit it or not, is a man of science. He knows it's real, he knows the differences between fact and fiction, he understands the mechanics of how things work in ways I'll never be able to fathom. He could look, literally just look, at something mechanical and already be tearing it apart in his head to understand how it works, how it breaks apart, and how it's put back together.

His personal Christian faith was born out of a very, very traumatic childhood full of every abuse in the book and he built a beautiful family in adulthood despite that pain. The older he got, however, the more back pain he developed due to years of physical labor. He became addicted to pain medication and alcohol and he sunk himself into Fox News when he had nothing else to do but sit in his chair due to the immense pain. He was told day after day after day that everything he was experiencing was all the left's fault and that Donald Trump would save him. He had some piss poor opinions before trump came on the scene - ab-so-lutely - but once trump began spewing his venom and it was suddenly deemed acceptable to be so openly poisonous, my father in-law quite literally lost his mind.

He became verbally abusive to the point that my mother in-law finally had to leave and he began sending us all videos and pictures of him destroying my wife's childhood home (putting holes in the walls with a sledgehammer, tossing the garbage all over the floor, and throwing all of their old stuff out onto the lawn). Eventually that turned into him sending videos threatening to commit suicide and telling us we were all to blame. My mother in-law got a divorce, he moved away to northern Michigan, and now he doesn't speak to any of us. My wife is the last one he has slowly begun to cut off entirely and it breaks her heart. She's the firstborn in their family and always knew he had a soft spot for her, but now the way he speaks to her over the phone is so ugly and reprehensible. He lies, he's abusive, he's manipulative and cruel, and still my wife loves him so very much because that's her dad and he was somebody else once and, honestly, I do see shades of that man in Tim Walz. She and I always joke that her dad has that very specific old, conservative, white male look with his khaki cargo shorts, black t-shirt, camo hat, and bushy beard; so much so that any time we see another old white dude dressed like that it literally just looks like her dad. And that's how Tim Walz dresses! That's almost literally the exact outfit he's wearing in the video they released yesterday of Kamala calling him to ask him to be her running mate. The warmth emanating between him and his family is exactly the way I remember it being so many years ago between my wife and her dad. That's who he was to me too and it's gut wrenching to feel and know that that's just...gone. And it's not coming back. So to watch these women weep over the loss they've endured is way too familiar.

 

Setting aside the company town aspect, it seems great that angry parents and students with access to weapons will know exactly where to find a teacher at home

 

Bowman was straddling the line too, so really for AIPAC and zionists, its not necessarily being pro-Palestine but not being zionist enough.

 

Plenty of less vocal members also lose year in and year out, they just aren’t as high profile of races because - again - there’s not millions of dollars pouring in through outside spending to make examples of those politicians. Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman were targeted by AIPAC for questioning an ongoing genocide while the vast, vast majority couldn’t even do that much. They lost as part of a larger message about what is and isn’t going to be tolerated within the Democratic Party. This is the type of thing that leads to people like myself having an attitude of “oh yeah, fuck this party then.” To which the party’s response is typically “we don’t need you.”

not for nothing but what does the “Democratic party” have to do with it in a larger sense? This was a primary that anyone registered as a Dem could run for, and is largely managed by the state parties, not the national. I would have liked to see the DCCC do more to help Bush out but even that is separate from the larger apparatus of the “Democratic Party”
