Potential disaster brewing in Washington primaries

We do a jungle primary where everyone just gets one vote and the top two advance, generally the top dem and top Republican but sometimes if it's a really red or blue district you'll see two Dems or two Republicans

But sometimes you get weird shit.

Commissioner of public lands. Very important but unflashy role protecting the environment

Five Dems run. Two Republicans run. But given everything else going on, no one really focuses at all on the race. People vote on vibes

Republicans currently have a bit over ~40% of the vote. But because no one is really focusing on the race there isn't a favorite candidate and they are each right over 20%

Meanwhile the 60% dem vote gets split five ways. Is one guy who is obviously the right choice but most people still just vote on vibes and now it's just under 20% of the total vote

Could make it up in the late vote, but a pretty good chance we wind up with 60% of the state wanting a dem but only Republicans in the general election which means having to waste a lot of time hoping a write in campaign works

 

Lmao true. If I got elected to Congress tomorrow it would literally triple my salary. I’d make more by myself than me and my wife make combined.
