The time has finally come. I will be starting my reread now in anticipation for release.

  2. For how long the way of kings is, I find it a pretty quick read. First 20-30 pages felt dense because of the new world and everything but once that got established it’s been a pretty comfy read.

Wind & Truth description is out

The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive-the iconic epic fantasy masterpiece that has sold more than 10 million copies, from acclaimed bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare-and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium's place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide— Adolin in Azimir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah at Thaylen City. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons...and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiants killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium's champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

It's like what somebody would write if they were trying to make fun of fantasy novels.

I...disagree. Seems like a pretty comprehensible description to me honestly.

Super hyped for it! Especially whatever's going down in the Spiritual Realm

Going to be so hard to resist reading these advance chapters. I'm only halfway through my WoR re-read, so that should keep me busy for a while.

This may be too broad of a question, but what do you all think I NEED to read to continue on with Stormlight?

I have read Mistborn Era 1 (nothing from 2), the first 3 stormlight novels and Warbreaker. I was going to probably skip the way of kings as I honestly find it a bit slow and I've read it twice and know the broad strokes, and reread 2 and 3 and then read 4 for the first time before diving right in. A buddy said it's pretty much required at this point to read Mistborn Era 2, agreed? That's a daunting amount of pages to get through.

Are there just 2 novellas? Side story but I never want to read Edgedancer again... I will annoy some people I'm sure, but also won't be alone (I hope...) but Lift is an annoying character when pushed to the forefront... I'm hoping Dawnshard is a better experience. I'm guessing I shouldn't skip that.

Dawnshard is better than Edgedancer for sure IMO.

You should at the very least read Mistborn Secret History if you haven't read that yet. You probably don't need to read Mistborn era 2 since those books take place after Stormlight 5 chronologically.

I’m definitely dumber than most, but an official Brandon ordained timeline would sure be mighty beneficial sooner rather than later. Because some of the connections fly right over my head.

lol I feel like I spend more time reading the wiki and WoB than reading the actual books.

I’d agree and say Secret History then Dawnshard are what’s missing. Sunlit Man will have to be read just after it I think!

  22. Wait does Mistborn tie into the storm light archive eventually?

  23. Just finished the way of kings. Those last 200 pages went hard. A breezy read after getting used to the world. I like that the book really only had a few settings where everything takes place in. Felt nicely contained.
