are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

honestly, i could say the same thing about the kids ruining the vibes at hardcore and metal shows post pandemic, but i really don't want to be that old dude now so i'll stop while i'm ahead

I'm 27 and I'm usually the absolute oldest or absolute youngest at a show. That seems pretty standard when I think about it a bit, but it's probably a product of my specific taste

written like someone who’s only been to lolla or another city festival. destination festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, and Bonnaroo def skew a bit older due to the cost and commitment to get there.

    Edit: the post, not you

Reba Meyers is Marilyn Manson’s new guitar player. That’s certainly a choice on her part.

I’m at hinterland music festival out here in Iowa and holy god as it been a shit show, they severely overbooked this festival which has us stressed for Sunday (Chappell, Noah..)

Hour long waits for water, took 5 hours just to park and get in, the stage and festival grounds are extremely tiny and witnessed multiple people pass out. (See r/hinterlandfestival for more stories, or even just check out their Instagram comments)

me and my girlfriend are seriously considering leaving the festival

Odd to see Papa Roach on the same level as Gojira and Machine Head who are big in Europe

they must be headlining a stage or something and will be further down when the lineup gets announced l, cause Saxon is big in Europe too and they are second tier.

Maybe, yes. Although having them infront of Gojira after they had a boost after the Olympics, seems disrespectful lol

The Green Day Chicago thing is them playing the q101 lounge on Monday the 12th. You have to call q101 to win passes. If you win passes to the lounge show you also get tickets to the wrigley show on Tuesday

I have never understood this, and if I ever experienced it first hand, I'd ask the younger person why they think this way? I'd say 'if you truly love music, why would you ever accept that you have to age out of it?'. It's such an odd outlook to be having the time of your life and enjoying seeing the spectacle of live music, and accepting that there's an arbitrary age cutoff where you just have to stop that experience?

Now at times, I do see bands and shows where I'm the 'old' guy and get a feeling of this isn't for me, but at a music festival that caters to multiple genres, and decades of music, fuck that attitude. I don't care at a fest if I skew older when I stumble across a new artist and vibe with it.

Eh, I think this is just one weirdo's opinion. I'm 40 and go to shows all time though my festival attendance has dropped off. That being said, young kids are usually so into the artist playing, partying with their friends, taking pictures/filming it's not like they are going to even bother notice the 35+ people anyways and, if they do, usually give them a sort of friendly salute.
