probably subjective, but would Seven sound better if Stephen was more or less the only one on it (save for the screaming)? the live recording was definitely the more intriguing of the two new songs when someone put them on YouTube last year

  2. Of course. I really don't like Matty's voice. It sounds aluminum.

Just realized this entire album (minus two tracks with Matty) is just the tracks from their last two EPs lol

I just saw them with Matty (well half their set, I was late) and was so confused til he said something. I legit thought the tour was running late and stick to your guns was playing or something because it also didn’t sound like anberlin til they got to the hits. Anyway yeah I don’t care for matty, I don’t care for any anberlin after lowborn, and from what I’ve gathered online Stephen has gone deep into the far right rabbit hole and is into a bunch of alpha male content and has even promoted some alpha self help shit himself and supporting some weird anti covid band and featuring on some weird anti mask song called zombie by them. Very bizarre situation all around. And not to sound anti religion at all because I’m not but I frankly can’t say I’m surprised. Anyway I just found all that out after being curious about what happened to him and why he isn’t in the band. Which I guess is just family and church stuff but the other stuff I found out was eye opening

I believe it was confirmed to be Stephen on backups? Song is good but not exactly what I enjoy out of an Anberlin song. They seem happy exploring their heavier side at them moment

Man I am just not enjoying this at all.

and this is the first I’m hearing about Stephen falling down the far-right rabbit hole and frankly I’m kinda surprised. I seem to recall him sharing some pretty distinctly anti-Trump stuff circa 2016. Unless I’m just remembering wrong. But damn. That’s disappointing as hell.

That's just one dude on reddit and he based it on what Stephen follows on instagram? Doesn't sound that bad.

it's weird that the frontman of band who's repeatedly displayed signs at their shows and livestreams/sold T-shirts with the phrase "end racism" goes out of his way to follow a bunch of people who would decry those actions as symptoms of the so-called "woke mind virus".

nothing damning, just disappointing. Those are too many coincidences for me to believe that he doesn't buy into that mindset at least a little bit. not to mention the weird alpha male conference he spoke at a few years ago (evidence of which has seemingly been scrubbed from the internet).

as a former Christian, I'm also really put off by his megachurch pastor persona, hosting conferences such as "five steps to financial freedom" at his church campus. I just never imagined the man who wrote (*fin) trying to be Joel Osteen lite.

    And then there was this:

Didn't want to derail the LP thread with this, but I finally listened to this last weekend and I was not expecting this to be part of the goddamned chorus.

    Lol.

Like, when I first read about it here, I thought it was a throwaway line of some kind, like a shout out. It being repeated like eight times in the course of the song straddles the line of obnoxious without more context.
