Good post. I think we are ultimately agreeing though. I'm not saying every pick is going to hit, but I think the MLB draft success rate can and should be improved. We both identify development as potential piece in our long posts.

I am glad you bring up Seattle because I would liken them to Cleveland. Cleveland probably made their switch sooner, but the idea remains. Development was a huge problem for both teams. Cleveland traded junk to Seattle for Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin Soo-Choo in separate trades. They gave up Ben Broussard and Eduardo Perez. Seattle at that time had a lot of things going on that prevented them from winning baseball games and developing its farm. They have wasted a good amount of high end players over the years.

 

Buying a Chromecast was a great decision, now I can watch a game on the TV via my phone and a game on my computer. What an age we live in.

 

That starting 9 is ridiculous. Damn.

 

Brewers aren't looking so hot right now. Really dig the matte black Giants batting helmets.

 

That Cubs lineup is going to be so fun to watch this year.

I can't think of another way to describe Seattle front office's failures re: prospect development other than 'comprehensive'. At almost every stage of youth acquisition the Mariners royally screwed up. Under Bavasi we failed to convert top picks in Clement & Brandon Morrow and shipped off Carlos Guillen, Shin, Cabrera, Adam Jones, and Tillman. Then under Zduriencik, who was brought in on the strength of his scouting and talent acquisition with Milwaukee, we managed to get almost nothing of value out of a farm system that included prospects who were all well-regarded at some point (Ackley, Justin Smoak, Michael Pineda, Jesus Montero, Michael Saunders, Nick Franklin, Danny Hultzen, the list goes on). I know prospects aren't all supposed to pan out but it seems a bit much with Seattle haha.

Not to mention the infamous Derek Lowe + Varitek for Heathcliff Slocumb trade way back when.

 

Alright, Mariners, let's do this!

 

Thinking about investing in MLB.tv so I can watch all of these games that I don't get, anyone use it/like it? Also go Rangers yay!

I like MLB.TV when it works right.

 

I've had it since it was just radio broadcasts. Not sure but probably the first year they offered it. I love it. Especially since my team is out of market.

 

Did I mention I hate the Nationals and Bryce Harper?

 

I need to get it as well as finally get cable, I'm so tired of streaming games on my computer. Nice homer by Cano, and I will never get tired of seeing Cruz strike out against the Rangers since the botched catch of 2011.

 

I've shelled out for it past couple of years and definitely think it's worth it. Although I'm slightly biased because 1) I live abroad so I don't have any other viable choice 2) Mariners games aren't blacked out anyway
