The precision of it is so interesting. You have one foot on the ground at all times or you'll be penalized (because otherwise that is considered running). There has been a few different cases where someone was in first place and 30 seconds from crossing the finishline then got DQ'd for illegal form.

 

Ever since that episode of Malcolm in the Middle I can't take speed walking seriously. That one and 3x3 basketball just feel like sports for people who aren't as good as the ones in the main sport.

 

I take back what I said about the women's foil team Scruggs won the match for us in the end. We beat Canada 45-31. They had the bronze medalist on their squad and we have gold and silver. All that is left is fencers on Team Italy that Kiefer and Scruggs have already beaten.

 

3x3 basketball is pretty cool imo. I like that the games are relatively short, and that it's not completely dominated by the USA teams

 

French people sure do love Seven Nation Army

 

Dude if the US wins the gold in this team foil final after what we did a few days ago it is going to be so big for this sport in the US.

US/Italy final and Canada/Japan bronze match on a 1pm est

 

Casey Kaufhold, who is the #1 ranked female archer in the world and was considered the best hope at the US getting an Archery medal this year just got knocked out by Taiwan

Brady Ellison though (who is a former silver medalist and world record holder for most points scored in a tournament) is still in the men's archery tournament, and is one win away from making to the quarterfinals.

 

What’s even weirder, is that this isn’t true anymore. When they got better cameras capable of slow motion, they realised almost all of them break the “one foot on the floor” rule, so they just amended the rules to “it must appear that one foot is always on the floor” lol
