His biggest magic trick to this day that I’ll never understand is the way he gets people he openly fucking despises to vote for him.

We saw in 2020 with Bernie what happens when dem leadership decides to put their weight behind or against someone. I don’t think it’s easy to go against the grain when the incumbent president is entrenched in the party like Biden is

The Biden camp absolutely pressured people to keep their mouths shut about his limitations due to his age. The Democrats really are behaving like a unified team, nothing really matters unless they can get the Presidency, House, and Senate and I think that's what they have their sights on. Solidifying around Kamala is their best chance and nobody said no to that. We were robbed of the primary and it's a shame but this is really "gotta beat Trump at all costs" but that's what this is and Biden wasn't going to do it. If Kamala is another Obama in how she governs, that would suck, but also make her the best President of our lives. For some reason if she governs with the urgency she campaigns, I think she'll be adaptive to what people are asking for just not as progressive as we might want.

But, like, all of that could still have been done after the primaries. The general election is what really matters.

Policy is what really matters. It's just not what casuals pay attention to. Pretty sad. Narratives win elections.

I strongly believe that when it comes to the average Democratic voter, if *their* Democrat loses, they are still going to begrudgingly vote for the one who won. Isn't it better for most of them to choose who they care about the most during the primaries, so that less of them have to compromise in the general?

Yeah, it's a lot harder, but idk, there isn't really anything to lose? The worst case is they lose and just endorse the winner because they are a strong candidate and Trump must be defeated, yada yada yada

Fundraising was a huge issue too. I think Kamala was the only one that could access Biden's funds, and taking away an entire month away from campaigning against Trump to run against each other and then raising money could have been harmful as well. Setting up an entire nationwide operation isn't easy, obviously Kamala can access Biden's immediately. It wasn't impossible, but I think the way they did it is how it had to be done really and the entire party recognized that.

Oh I 100% agree that Kamala was the only viable choice now that everything is too late. I'm only talking primaries

Bernie still got blamed for Hillary's loss in 2016 and he went through the primary system, did everything by the book.

Running against Biden would've been a political death wish.

If you're mad about not getting a primary, blame Biden for trying to run again and the dem machine for creating a culture where everyone is too afraid to challenge the status quo

The thing about Beshear is he's like everyone's second choice. Which makes him a good pick. He's an inoffensive pretty white boy which is basically what you want from a VP.
