They're showing evil dead 2 here in theaters next week and my bf hasn't seen any and I don't even know how to explain the franchise to him. He said he needs to see the first one before we'd see the second and Im like ehhh idk about that lol! Of course I'm happy to rewatch the OG but not really for the continuity purpose

2 basically speedruns you through the plot of 1 again anyway haha. continuity wise I think it's actually more confusing if you watch both

  9. So I'm not really claustrophobic but this mineshaft scene in Horror in the High Desert 3 is really fucking with me, probably because I'm watching the way it's meant to be seen (on a laptop close to my face in the dark).

These movies are basically a creepypasta-style twist on The Hills Have Eyes through the lens of The Blair Witch Project and that just kicks so much ass. I can't believe how consistent they are. They don't pull a lot of new tricks, but they do one thing so well, and each one unravels a new piece of an ongoing story. I love that they teed this new one up for a sequel and I hope we get four more of these. They deserve the attention Hell House LLC gets tbh.

ok I really went into it with an open mind, I WANTED to believe you might say, but the second X-Files movie is still one of the worst I've ever seen. so thoroughly dumb on so many levels unfortunately

man super sappy post incoming, but finishing Stephen Graham Jones Indian Lake trilogy (highly recommend, the ending is astonishing, if they ever make movies out of these I will be Insufferable about it) got me really emotional, well in general but about what the horror community means to me

such an insane, absurd idea that people made movies about people getting violently murdered, dismembered and/or cursed to eternal damnation and we all said 'yes, good this is a huge part of my identity forever on now'. fucking love it though, it's the best community to be part of By Far. I love that whenever I'm feeling rough or isolated or the world makes no damn sense, I can just spend a few minutes of my day arguing with someone over whether Dream Warriors is better than OG or quoting the GARBAGE DAY! guy or whatever, and I instantly feel so much better. I love that I can just say John Carpenter to any of you and there's instantly a whole shared history we both know even though we're strangers. it's a foolproof cureall, 100% of the time. it's a very important part of my life and I love you all for it, no apologies for the shameless cheese

(if you require proof yet here's the opening acknowledgement in Angel of Indian Lake, I've genuinely teared up at it every time I opened this book)

Watched the first two Horror in the High Desert based on suggestions in here. Definitely a good time and easily digestible. I’ll probably watch the third tonight. I’d say I enjoy the good Hell House movies a lot more though as they are far creepier imo.
