in the same boat. but Harris's campaign so far has showed some signs of "getting it". Has me hopeful that maybe she'll realize Walz is the move that best capitalizes on the momentum she's already built. I'm just also ready to be disappointed.

Not the first, second, or even third "why do you have this saved on you phone?" reply I have seen today. It's a good response.

    Meet me in Montauk. Prestigious

Roast me for this but tbh the weird discourse/campaign line is giving me deplorable vibes and how that backfired, obviously very different candidates and obviously calling all these people weird is an understatement

I mean, if they were smart they would have already pivoted to the message "they're calling you weird" to their base. But they've just imploded further and continue to prove to be weirdos.

“Basket of deplorables” just sounded like something an alien would say. It fed into an existing narrative about Clinton and elitism, like she was saying these people were worse than her and her supporters because of something in their essence. “Weird” works better because it’s about a specific behavior and it’s a thing people can more easily quit doing. Talking about children’s genitals is weird, and vibes out most normal people, and calling that out in a non-moralizing way will resonate with people. They’re also saying it about people with a platform for the most part, not regular Republican voters.

That said, I do 100% see a world in which Dems overplay their hand somehow.

This reminds me of when I was in Times Square like 12 years ago, there was one particular street that had a Starbucks on all 4 corners, no joke lol

If someone calls you a deplorable, you can immediately print shirts that say “I’m a deplorable!” and go out and wear it proudly, because you’re not ashamed of being deplorable.

Even if they went out and printed shirts that said “I’m weird” and tried to wear them proudly, they intrinsically do not like being weird. Being weird means they are the “other” and their entire worldview is they are in the in-group exerting power over the other. They’ll never have the numbers and agreement to get millions of people to rewire their brains to view “weird” as a positive. They’ll always wonder whether the next person who sees their ironic “I’m weird” shirt really understands that they aren’t saying they’re really weird, it’s just pretending to own it to troll back, or if they’ll be viewed as sincerely weird and weak.

You also can’t deflect from being called weird by dropping a heinous anti-trans JPG and hoping the other person is triggered away from their original point. It comes off as you got baited into being weird again and played right into the weird label.

Every single single reply to "you're weird" am seeing is completely unfiltered homophobia and transphobia.

Saw that Harris campaign is showing up to the debate even if Trump doesn’t. Another pitch perfect response. It’s very weird to see a much more aggressive dem campaign.

I'll repeat I've never seen an "in touch" Democratic candidate before. As much as people like Obama, dude was soooo traditional and cautious. Hillary was completely out of touch. Biden was distant and backwards. They really seem like they're going to do this. I'm on the Kamala train big time right now.

This also shows Biden was not listening to her at all.
