Catching up on the men’s street skateboarding final. The quality is so much higher than the women’s final, and it has to be because they’re all so much older and more experienced right?

 

Yeah again it's due to years and years of lack of investment in women's skateboarding. They mentioned it a bunch during the women's competition yesterday.

 

USA's Evans/Budinger beat France 2-0 at Beach Volleyball in their opening match today.

Bundinger is a retired NBA player who switched to Beach Volleyball after his basketball career was over. I think they're one of the topped ranked men's teams in the world. Gonna interesting to see how far they go. US men haven't won gold in Beach Volleyball since 2008.

 

Yeah, I suspected that might be the case. Will be cool to watch that change over time.

US Women's Indoor Volleyball team, the defending Olympic champs lost their opening match to China. Not out of contention yet, but not a good start.

Also haven't been watching surfing, but I guess all three US men failed to make the quarterfinals.

 

The men's triathlon that was supposed to be today got postponed until tomorrow due to pollution levels in the Seine river.

 

Rivers are really only clean in the Alps, they should have seen this coming lol

 

Essentially the rainstorm Paris had last Friday and Saturday fucked them over, overflowing drainage pipes, causing sewage to flow into the Seine, decreasing its quality levels for days. They basically have to wait several days then for enough water to flow through the Seine to get water clean enough for the swimming to take place.
