I love seeing Olympic finals in events I do semi-regularly as a part of my health routine because it really drives home just how insane they are. The race today is about twice as fast as my all out training sprint at the same distance I do weekly.

 

I like the time tactics in fencing. The losing fencers always feigning fixing their blades or tying their shoelaces to stop the match to disrupt momentum. I like that you only get 3 video appeals per match.

Fencing is still so confusing to me

 

In what ways? I think it's petty simple. For Foil it is 3 rounds. Point for every hit with tip of blade to the torso. Win by getting to 15 points first or leading by the end of round 3.

With saber you get a point for hitting any part of the blade anywhere above the waist. 2 rounds. I think 14 points gets you a win.

 

US gets Bronze! USA getting another individual medal still a big for USA Fencing.

Right now US has 3 fencing medals far ( gold, silver, and bronze) and we still got men and women's team play later.
