What a great final. Skateboarding is beautiful

 

I think it is because of how fast the skill level of skating for women is growing. In recent competitions 25 year old women are routinely getting destroyed by 14 year old girls on the come up. They even said on commentary yesterday that the top winning scores for women in 2020 wouldn't even have qualified them for 2024. Women's skating just hasn't gotten to a point yet where it's leveled off and you have mid 20's skaters who are consistently the best in the world every year.

 

Alright with men's foil fencing. Only one American fencer made it to the semis, Nick Iktin the current #2 in the world. The #1 ranked fencer already eliminated, so Itkin is the favorite now out of the final four. We still have a chance and the prospect of US sweeping gold in foil events is still in play.

The final will probably be Nick Iktin (#2 ranked) vs HK's Cheung Ka Long (#3 ranked)

 

Biggest story out of fencing today though is in women's saber. Multiple time world champ Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan made it to the semifinals

Kharlan was previously disqualified from the Olympics because she refused to shake the hand of a Russian opponent during a competition, and the IOC later reversed the decision. If Olga win's gold today that will be a huge story. Basically she will become a Ukrainian national hero.
