  1. That Foo Fighters record is good, actually

    No, Aaron, it's not

  3. The vocals aren't really my thing on this one so far, but I really like the drumming. Some cool time signature switches going on.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

This goes back and forth from sounding so much like Incubus to sounding so much like Nine Inch Nails.

  5. The acoustic disc is amazing even if disc one is half killer, half filler

Admittedly I haven't listened to it in years. I'm putting all my trust in my younger self.

  7. Yeah I enjoyed this overall, the vocals didn't always hit for me but when everything meshed it was REAL good. Finch comparison really checks out, esp on "Song for Saturday" and "Dusk"

  8. Will spin this as soon as I catch a break from my hip-hop kick. Seeing Westside Gunn on Friday, hard to listen to anything that isn't adjacent right now

I think a lot of these songs had been written before Finch were releasing stuff. I know it took a long time for Reuben to actually go and record their debut full-length and for it then to come out. Far and Glassjaw are quite prominent influences so some common ground there with Finch there. Definitely bits of Helmet and Silverchair and Weezer in the gaps. Kerbdog too.

Another tidbit on Spotify is a retrospective track-by-track commentary Jamie Lenman did about their first two albums when they re-released them on vinyl.

I'm digging Rueben. The vocals almost remind of me Frank Turner at times.

The Rueben album was pretty cool. Think I would have loved it a lot back when I was super into that sound. Can for sure hear the comparisons and influences that were mentioned in the thread

The Weakerthans album is lovely @troyplaysbass

That sort of wistful, poetic American indie-rock, with those clean-as-whistle vocals, often exhausts me, but a) that is a cool concept for an album, and b) the songs are good. Really like Hymn of the Medical Oddity with that ringing snare and the honey-sweet guitar playing that stepping-stopping Christmas carol melody. And the opening four lines of that song have a lovely modest power.

Oh, all the words I should not know
    Those doctors wrote on me
Swell up and from their syllable
Won't let me get to sleep

looks like their last post on this site was years ago. I think that's probably grounds to move on.

@williek311 you down to give us a record? if it's anything remotely as good as your last choice (Steve Hiett) then we should be golden!

Sorry I’ve been out of it recently with life shit happening.

I stumbled across this album a few years ago and it just felt like it was a hidden gem of early 90s hip hop. Sounds of the native tounge movement.

Finally a hip-hop album! Adore the early 90’s era too. Hyped to check this out. Thanks for sharing!
