It’s impressive that Jokic can keep this team within nine.

I personally am pretty okay with my star player, who has played significantly more basketball than most of Team USA this season, not exerting himself too much in an exhibition tournament lol

Biggest most storied sporting event in the history of earth with like 10 times the viewership of the nba finals, aka exhibition tournament

I mean...for men's basketball it is. Sorry Jokic and Giannis but if Team USA doesn't win every game by like 25 it will be portrayed as a colossal failure. Won't it?

yes. that isn't really up for debate. I'm with dave here. gross.

Oh hate away. My post was less a "DON'T SAY MEAN THINGS ABOUT TATUM" and more "sick, USA crushed and my star player got to sit and drink gatorade and chill" lol

Nah, Olympic medals are important, and generally speaking non-US guys really value playing for their country, it’s wack to want them not to out of nba fan selfishness

  19. It doesn’t - it’s why I used the nastiest hater gif

it is equally as cool for people like luka, shai, giannis, etc. to get to represent their countries as it is understandable for someone like tatum to not want to play in what is essentially a glorified all-star game for the American team. they've won four golds in a row. there's no reason for any of those dudes to try until that gets threatened

Especially when Tatum has logged A LOT of minutes over the last few years. He's had deep playoff runs pretty much his entire career including just finishing off an NBA Finals run. Dude can chill and drink some gatorade until he medal games lol.

I'd also probably be a little more enthused about him playing for our country if our country wasn't total shit lol

i just think it's disingenuous to poke fun at players who are on a team and not getting playing time when you wish that players you root for in the NBA skip the olympics as a whole to avoid injuries

I do think 2028 could be a far more interesting tournament though. The old guard will all be out by then and a lot of the current “contending” non US teams have young talent that either isn’t in their prime yet or is just hitting it. The US will still be the favorite, but the younger generation of team USA stars doesn’t really inspire the same awe as guys like LeBron, Curry, and KD.
