    1. The Beetles - Rubber Soul
    2. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
    3. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

Highway 61 or Bringing It All Back Home. Its a coin toss.

also love Solo Monk, Charlie Brown Christmas, Otis Blue, I Put A Spell On Your, Heliocentroc Worlds Of Sun Ra, Spiritual Unity, Mr Tambo Man, Maiden Voyage, the british invasion stuff etc

I listened to Martha & The Vandellas this morning, kinda trails off in the back, but it’s a great listen

Wilson Pickett's In the Midnight Hour is pretty excellent. A little more variable recording quality than The Exciting Wilson Pickett or The Wicked Pickett that immediately followed it, but god his voice is just insane. "Come Home Baby" just absolutely knocked me on my ass.

Eddy Arnold's My World is very mainstream Nashville Sound country to the point of basically being a crooner record, but there are some seriously excellent songs in there and his voice is great so it was a pretty ideal vehicle for that sound. I dug it.

feels pretty safe to say early in the day that The Beatles' Rubber Soul is gonna take it with 43 points. The two Dylan albums split votes in a way the two Beatles one's didn't really (21 for BIABH; 20 for Hwy61; only 10 for Help!). Highest non-Beatles/Dylan albums were A Love Supreme (12), Charlie Brown (12) and Otis Blue (10).

My top 3 albums would be:

    1. My Generation - The Who
    2. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
    3. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan

Anyway, I also have to mention that imo My Generation is a better debut than The Doors in all respect

Wowwww how did I miss Nina Simone this year ???? @cshadows2887 i see your comments here , but damn I missed them a few weeks ago. I’m listening to her ‘67 album now but of course did some reading while listening, and revisited Feeling Good, Strange Fruit and others.... holy SHIT she is incredible. Like - for a guy that is not big on too many female vocalists (admittedly to a fault), she instantly hits top 3 or 5 female vocalists ever.

That's fantastic. She is such a truly unique artist. There aren't too many artists in music where you know exactly who's singing the MOMENT a song starts. Glad you've been converted.

Amen, brother. Amen. That thrill of hearing something great for the first time is what we spend so much time chasing. Sure, someone might release it next week. But it also could be in the last 60-80 years of music, too. Can't leave any stone unturned.
