Being a dad absolutely made that episode hit harder

  2. Yeah, I think it's right up there with Tina's for best of the season.

The JLC ep is great, nothing to do with being in the delivery room or not lol. It’s another episode about the everlasting weight a parent has over their children.

Good season. Didn’t love the finale

  7. Loved basically all of this season, especially Tina's episode. I was surprised at how unresolved the main plot threads were in the finale, but I don't really mind since I will gladly hang out in this world with these characters no matter what.

There’s a lot of good moments in this season, just watched the Tina episode last night and teared up a few times.

My biggest issue with this show is how the dialogue feels artificial at times. It’s this weird combination of realism and overwritten that throws me off. It could have something to do with the close ups during heavy dialogue scenes or rhythm/cadence— Tina with her husband, Carmy with Claire, some other examples I can’t think of right now.

Compare those scenes with Tina and Mikey talking in the original Beef, which was phenomenally done.

  9. Carmen Christopher, the dude that plays Marcus’ roommate, opened tonight when I went to see Joe Pera. He killed and apparently has a special coming out next week

Sorry for liking like two months of discussion. Finally caught up with this. Was a nice rebound after the ultimate disappointment of “Presumed Innocent.”

Really dug this season. Was definitely more melancholy, but I was happy to just hang out with everyone and damn, I love a show with an actual budget.

I do not see how someone can watch Carm’s interaction with Joel McHale and say Carm had no arc or progression this season (Granted, we haven’t seen the ultimate effect the conversation will have on him.) He finally sees what is basically his final boss and discovers that confronting him with years of pent-up rage was not as satisfying as he hoped. That’s not nothing, especially with how McHale has weighed on him through these three seasons.

And word was she left because Fred Armisen broke up with her and wanted her gone. A classic SNL bag fumble.

Watched this entire season yesterday while flying back from Europe. Didn’t expect to cry in three different episodes. Truly lovely season that let us delve in and live with these characters. Avoided all discourse on the season, so I have no idea how it’s being received overall besides the fact a coworker hated this season.

I don't think that nothing happened or that there was no character development, as what you're saying is correct and it was fascinating to watch at times, but it's all set up and it seems odd to have a 10 episode season with so little resolved / advanced. All of the fall out and questions posed from season 2 are still in flux / unanswered. The relationships that were broken / strained at the end of S2, and the success of the restaurant are almost in exactly the same spot. I think back to how much progressed in S1 / 2, and it's a big step back in that regard for this season. Another episode of Carm doing something with those feelings and realizations is what I wanted.

As I said in another post though, I think the 'To Be Continued' is a direct response to this discourse and it shows the wrtiers probably thought a lot of people would have these criticisms so they're reminding people that 'yes... we're leaving a lot open, be patient, more soon'.
