for me the risk is picking a guy who was able to snipe a blue seat in a mostly red state that just recently turned purple. I hate the possible downsides of that. Thats why I’d prefer a governor, especially one that doesn’t have much of a political future otherwise (ie Pritzker or Bashear), to keep them relevant. I guess bashear could take a shot at Mitch’s seat in 2026.

I don’t hate the idea of Pete either other than having it be two people from Biden’s admin doesn’t seem like the smartest move
