Not sure that exact lyric, but Tigers Jaw used a lot of TP references in their older material.

  2. Figured it out - it was an unreleased demo by a friend's short-lived band from 2010. The band, of course, was called Windom Earle. No amount of internet scouring was going to help me find that one.

Also, two episodes to go in season 2.

  6. Okay, yeah, you all were right about the end of season 2.

Also really liked Fire Walk With Me. I agree with whoever said that the depiction of Leland/BOB in the movie is so much scarier and more upsetting than in the show, but I imagine it deepens a rewatch of the first season quite a bit.

    On to The Return soon.

assuming you didn't see the fanedit that puts The Missing Pieces back into the film, watch The Missing Pieces as well. shows a bit of what could've been. it's streaming on Criterion Channel if you're looking for a place to watch (of course there are other ways as well).

Something worth knowing about The Return before going into it is that 25 years passed between the film and its release. Several of the cast members and longtime collaborators (including the show’s composer Angelo Badalamenti) sadly died shortly after the Return debuted. In that way, this is their goodbye, and Frost/Lynch’s goodbye to them. It’s also the product of decades’ worth of work and the struggle to bring it to life. It might be the last full-length Lynch project we ever see.

I really recommend taking it slow, fully absorbing each episode. It’s likely the best season of television ever made and nothing has yet approached its level of mastery since then, IMO.

another note: some characters from the original run don't appear in S3, either because their actor died, they weren't available, they didn't want to return, or their presence wasn't necessary in David's opinion. Mark Frost wrote two companion books that attempt to fill in those gaps, as well as provide a little bit of context for some of the mysteries in S3 - The Secret History of Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier. they're both very informative (despite some small contradictions), although definitely don't crack open The Final Dossier until after S3 is finished.

Also, yeah, the film absolutely deepens the first season on rewatch. It’s like an entirely different show. All those moments that arguably seem melodramatic on first watch completely make sense in context knowing what she went through.

Jennifer Lynch (David’s daughter) also wrote a companion book, The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, a novelistic version of Laura’s diary. Definitely also recommend giving that a read—it’s devastatingly dark but also great.

Watching that in real time, confused but intrigued, only to be blown away with how it comes together. It is Lynch's best work.

    Got a light?

I’m rewatching The Return now and yeah I still remember how intense the first watch was, nothing can prepare you. Subsequent watches I just find the beauty in every scene, it’s all pieced together so brilliantly but it’s also pure insanity lol
