One time I saw them play hear you me and Jim got legit choked up singing it and had to apologize and it almost made me tear up too. And this was like yeeeears after its initial release. So I'm glad it sounds like a song that still resonates with them all this time later

But I'm someone who will also shout to the end of my days about how it's not a cute love song. I mean it is love in the grief sense, but it needs to be on the same not a love song playlist as every breath you take

Hear You Me will always remind me of the cinematic classic A Cinderella Story starring Hillary Duff and I’m sorry about that

This is it one for me.

Also, the One Tree Hill episode the features JEW playing HYM, Polaris, and Work. Another fun fact about that episode: My office makes an appearance in the episode as Work plays haha.

Guesting on a podcast next Monday to discuss Futures. Anything about song meanings, production tidbits, fun facts, etc. that you’d include if you were going to try and tackle this album?

Their split with Trombino around that time after starting to demo the album with him, the Stay On My Side Tonight EP, the song “Jen,” the other b-sides that wound up on the deluxe… totally my favorite album cycle from them.

Still bummed they left Jen off the official release. I know they thought it didn't fit. I beg to differ.

Listen, I appreciate that you felt compelled to confess to your sins. It's important to admit these things so that we can start the healing process.

Jen is a really cool song, agree though it didn't fit the Futures tracklist to an extent

Nah, it was totally fine right before Pain. The tonal whiplash is what makes it work.

Anyway, just read the real reason it got nixed is some asshole from Men Without Hats thought it sounded too much like one of their songs and JEW didn't feel like getting sued. Bullshit.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I think the album would be significantly worse with Jen on there tbh
