local toronto faves boxcutter released their new 7" today. seems like a massive level up in every way after a couple times through

 

treehouse of horror, another toronto local band, dropped their latest EP this weekend too. i saw these folks and boxcutter play a tiny backyard show over the weekend and it was such a great time. these two bands are definitely at the forefront of our local scene right now and it's exciting to see them continue to push their sounds forward after their already impressive early releases. it's been awhile since i've been this excited about new toronto bands.

and letterbombs, one of my favourite euro skramz bands, released their debut album today

 

This came out earlier this month but I just had it pop up for me on Spotify and I didn't see it posted in here. Still not the best at giving RIYLs, but it's nice and screamy lol.

 

Also just because I'm currently listening to them, I really need another Piri Reis record in my life.

it's so good, i've run through it so many times already. they have a a pretty deep catalogue of splits/eps/compilation appearances that's well worth digging into as well.

We have arrived at Big Screamo Release Day:

 

State Faults has been fantastic, as I knew it would be but omg that Respire is BLOWING ME AWAY. Like holy shit is it good. Mad they weren't on my radar, or else is have preordered the vinyl already. But now that I've heard it, I ordered with the quickness. Keening is one of my most favorite album openers in a longggg time. It's a perfect example of the rest of the album to come.

 

kid, feral released their first new song since 2020 last week. from an ep that is coming out some time soon, and they have also go an full length coming in the near future too (per what i've gleaned from their instagram)
