I feel like Jeremy hasn’t had a good take on Star Wars since before The Last Jedi.

edit: so I haven’t bothered with his Acolyte reviews at all

 

I want a season 2 just to see the grifters pretend to be mad that they get another 8 episodes to make bank on.

 

So, what was happening when Osha was struggling under the helmet and Qimir struggled to get close and his eyes went black? Did I miss something?

 

It seemed like the same thing that her mother did to Tommen from GoT. I just took it as the same Witch Force magic?

 

So Osha was doing it to Qimir?

 

I took it as Osha had taken control of his mind but didn't know that was happening and it freaked her out. Probably referencing her strength in the dark side of the force

 

I’ll need to watch the scene again. My first thought was she screamed first and then Qimir went to help her and was being held back by someone or something.

I did watch pretty late after an incredibly long day. So I may have just not caught what happened.

quite enjoyed the finale. i actually enjoyed Vernestra in this episode, wasn’t as into her character in earlier ones.

the kyber bleeding was sick, as was the sol/qimir fight.

excited to get Sithier if they make a second season.

I spent the whole season having no idea Vernestra was a character from the books till y'all just said it lol, thought she was original to the show

yeah this finale was a mixed bag like the season, I don't have a lot to say that hasn't already been said. think Sol was one of my favourite Jedi ever onscreen, fantastically acted and really interestingly flawed and multi dimensionsal. the idea of a s2 without him seems kinda grim but I'll still tune in for Manny('s arms)

also jeez some of the dialogue in this show needed a second pass. Vern saying "that's certainly an opinion" like she was a 2022 Twitter user took me the fuck out of that scene instantly. only great line this episode was Qimir's "oh they're not here for me"

 

Sol was such a great character, flaws and all.

 

I liked Sol right up to when he doubled down when telling Osha the truth. When he said, “I did what was right,” I soured on him. I feel like stating it that way kind of doesn’t match with his conflicted feelings we see throughout the season and even right after he killed her mom. If he had said, “I did what I thought was right,” and expressed remorse as we have seen earlier, I think I’d fell better about him. Osha could still have killed him and it would have made it more tragic (and I’d argue better). Perhaps on a rewatch that doubling down will feel more earned, but he has seemed so conflicted over so much that it felt odd to me.

Or more likely, it was intentional to critique the Jedi as a whole using Sol as an example. A Jedi so certain in what they believe to be right but emotions are out of control in how they sway their actions. Which is fine, but it makes me not care as much that Sol got blamed for it all. The doubling down makes me feel like he got what he deserved. Again, that may be intentional.

I guess I think having him be a flawed Jedi who sees the error of his actions but can’t change their effect and leaves him conflicted for years is more interesting than he’s a flawed Jedi who is emotional but ultimately kind of sucks.

I think I need to rewatch it all to really solidify my thoughts on that. Not now, I’m too busy with a LOST rewatch haha but in a while I’ll get to it.

 

Was there ever any more insight on the connection he felt to Osha or are we just assuming the force was forcing

I shouldn’t have watched this in the background, completely missed the Plagueis thing

 

my partner immediately went "not if Trump gets elected" after this line

 

my dad works for Osha and he fell down some rickety stairs on a job site and messed his back up pretty bad
