Dune 2

 

The Creator is pretty good and looks amazing, especially for its budget.

 

Couple recent watches.

Aniara (2018). Giant luxury transport ship migrates people from Earth to Mars after Earth has been been rendered uninhabitable. Things go wrong, and people have to reckon with what's happening. Existential crisis sci-fi. I dug it.

Solaris (2002). I really dug this one too. Plan to watch the Tarkovsky one eventually, but that runtime is daunting and I know his movies tend to be slow and meditative.

 

Monolith imo but I know it wont be for everyone

There's a lot of sci-fi TV I could probably list but Scavengers Reign is the one I'd recommend the most for anyone that hasn't seen it. Masterful stuff.

 

Loved The Vast of Night, need to watch that again.

 

Yeah that movie rules

 

The Wanting Mare is a good slow burn sci-fi adjacent film. streaming on Prime now.

the bts of the movie is super rad, too. filmed mostly in a warehouse, and you’d never know it. the director went on to redo a bunch of VFX on The Green Knight during lockdowns.

 

Monolith was NOT for me but it's definitely unique

Seconding Crimes of the Future, The Vast of Night, and Possessor

Some obvious picks, but I would add Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, 65, and Infinity Pool. Maybe Poor Things and Godzilla Minus One

 

I was curious about 65 but never got around to it. May have to check it out.

 

I kind of overlooked the Brandon Cronenberg movies as sci-fi, but they definitely are. I really loved Infinity Pool.

It's a lot more fun than people let on! A tight 90 with Adam Driver shooting dinosaurs with space guns. What more do you want

 

I do agree with the fan service being really kind of a drag in the film and it takes you out of the moment, especially the one line. But overall I'd be less negative toward the film and still found myself enjoying it.

 

Damn that last gif applies to Pacific Rim and this thread now. Lmao
