A little over 9 weeks haha. I have Elantris, Hope of Elantris, TSM, and White Sand left. I’m not sure if I’ll read White Sand though, because I’ve only heard bad things about it.

 

I liked White Sand! I’m looking forward to the planned prose version because I think it’ll do the story justice, but the graphic novels were enjoyable and some of the art was really nice.

started yumi and the nightmare painter, my first Sanderson book figured a stand-alone novella is as good a place as any to get my feet wet. I’m on chapter 5 and love his playful tone where the narrator is basically a character too, and there’s a lot more humor in his voice than I was expecting. So far it’s just typical world building and character intro stuff going on but I dig it

 

I met Fonda Lee yesterday and she mentioned she'll be at Dragonsteel this year. Anyone else going this year?

Not only is it his longest book—it's the only book he's written longer than The Lord of the Rings.

Which is of course an arbitrary milestone, but still.

I'm re-reading Stormlight right now and these books are still so incredible. I enjoy most of Brandon's work but this series is his best work for sure. Trying to time everything out perfectly so that my re-read is finished right before December.

Probably going to need to re-read Dawnshard and Edgedancer, too.

Is the Horneater novella still supposed to come out before book 5?

Finished the mistborn trilogy. I liked it. Not sure if I loved the ending. Taking a break with some other stuff then I have the way of kings.

still one of the coolest opening chapters to a book ever

 

I was floored by all the breadcrumbs that led to the end and how it was a culmination of everything we had seen. I never cried so hard reading a book as I did with that ending.

Just finished my Way of Kings re-read and I can confidently say that this is still Sanderson's best work. I'm picking up on so many little clues and details that I missed the first time through. His commitment to foreshadowing and playing the long game is unparalleled.

 

It's that time: Wind and Truth chapters will be released weekly starting July 29th until release (IIRC has usually ended up going through the first part)

Can't decide if I want to read these or not. I already read the prologue, and I think that's enough until release.

 

This is the first time I’m in a place to do this, but I think I’m going to abstain. Nothing quite like the feeling of opening up a book and just diving in from the beginning for me.

 

Same, I always skip the preview chapters. For Stormlight specifically I need my big heavy hardcover, totally fresh.

 

I don't have the strength/time/willpower for a reread lol
