This has got to be the first tour in the history of music that has three stops in Montana.

Damn would immediately buy tix for the TWY/Menzingers show in ME mostly for Liquid Mike but I also have the B&C show all the way down in Providence the night after. Would be an insane amount of driving for me in 48 hrs.

Miss May I launching an annual fest and hosting it in Kentucky is an interesting move.

I am eternally glad that TWY's one stop in Portland last year has convinced them to put Maine in rotation. Can't wait for that tour with Menzingers.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

It's a b-market and Menzos didn't sell out a smaller venue last time they were around here IIRC.

Edit: I also have little faith in the punks around here to turn out, but I digress.

Figured this might be a good place to ask this question even if it's not completely tour related so I'm gonna go for it.

Over the last few months, I've started taking concert photography more seriously. I'm only able to squeeze in a show a week max as I work nights. All of the venues I've taken pictures at have been at the <100 cap level, and I've been building my portfolio with some pictures I think are worth showing off. Got a website and everything. At some point or another soon, though, I want to start getting more pictures at bigger venues that have a photo pit and all that jazz.

I know there are two avenues towards getting photo passes and taking pictures at the bigger venues: directly reaching out to the band/publicist/manager or working with a publication that might want some pictures. However, I have been striking out on the first option, as the managers either give no response or they pass. I recognize I might not be at the level in which I can ask for these, but the bands I've asked aren't that big or they are opening for another band, and I figured I would at least have a little luck there. Alas, it doesn't seem like that's the case.

So now I'm going down the second route, which is where I would need some help. Does anyone know any good publications (specifically in the NYC area) that might be worth emailing to see if I can get photos for them? I've been trying to find them to no avail, as it seems like a lot of the big ones that would have been helpful haven't been active lately. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

I've learned a LOT about the music industry from these forums, so I figured this would be a good place to start. Any advice at all about concert photography (even if it isn't about photo passes) would be greatly appreciated!

Fresno mentioned twice in one day is good news

  16. Maybe try Charm? CHARMMusic Magazine
I have a friend who shoots shows for them sometimes. Looking at the their galleries, they don't have any recent NYC ones so that might be a niche they'd want to fill.

I'll reach out to them! Thank you so much!

At some point, money would be nice! However, right now, I'm having fun and trying to get better and get more experience. I know that if money ever entered the equation, it would not be for a LONG long time. My overall artistic mission is to give back to the communities that have given me meaning and made me excited to create art, and photography is my current avenue in doing so.

It's not at all a bad venue! It's just outside of the city and some city folks are not fans of driving there. It's a pretty good venue at a pretty nice area with tons of free parking around and tons of restaurants and other bars around. Also, it's not as crowded as the city so there's less stress around overall.
