I got one too. I'm not sure if it's always been like this in the 10 years that I live in the area or if global warming is fucking us over.

I think it depends on the year but it has seemingly gotten worse the last couple of years. It hasn’t been this bad where all of Chicagoland is under a tornado warning since like 2015 and the day the hawks won the Stanley cup

We used to get these in April/May. Less intense. Now we’re getting them in summer with more humidity in the air.

Thankful I took the offer to be driven home from my shelter board meeting rather than biking. Would have beat it but it would have been stressful. I rode during the event last summer with the rotation and EF0 tornadoes out by O'Hare.

Also thankful that was less serious than last night's storms for the city.

Damn. You guys good up there? I’m 90mi SW and got the mildest part, barely any wind. Now it’s hitting my stepdads place in IN.

I got heavy winds and a lot of rain. Lots of down branches and powers out

Sat and watched the storm out of my window in Logan Square. Wild stuff! The night storms lately have been pretty cool except for all the destruction.

Had to get acquainted with the bathtub in my apartment after Brandt Miller said strong rotation was coming right towards my neighborhood but fortunately does not look like much happened here

My husband had to SHAKE me awake last night for our tornado warning (Grundy Co area) It’s normally the other way around and the storms wake me.. he said he could hear rumbles different from the thunder. We’re out in the cornfields but its not impossible that some kind of rotation was nearby and we just didn’t know.

We didn’t feel the earthquake either but reports said some in the area did. THE WORLD IS ENDING.

All of 55 is shutdown by Channahon, high tension power lines fell onto all the lanes.

They power the ExxonMobil plant…they just had to release a statement that there’s nothing they can do about the odor..they had to “release” from the flare stacks

We are moving to a new house on Saturday and we found out that the whole area doesn't have any electricity which caused the sump pump to stop working and caused the basement to get flooded into oblivion. Good thing we don't have anything there yet so if there's any water damage then it's only going to be to the floor/wall.

We did buy a backup battery system for the pump and the guy was supposed to install it over the weekend but didn't have time to do it :-/

Ah fuck, that sucks. Those battery backups are important.

Not sure I buy the story butyeah, 20 years. I remember it being behind schedule and people wondering how important it would be to Chicago. It's a huge benefit to us, even if it's some weird private-public partnership.

The floosmoor to Thornton one was only a mile or so away from me. No wonder why we still don’t have power up

The one for the West Loop tornado is so uncanny. Never thought we'd see the day.
