Hi Ryan, I just saw your response. The song showed up for me on Spotify, and it was the pitch correction that caught my attention. I wasn't aware of the context and the terrible loss your friend suffered, and I hope my comment doesn't deviate the discussion from the generous help you are providing. As a longtime fan, I have nothing but respect for you and the band.

    Thanks everyone!

To clarify, YC are a band I hold extremely close to my heart and are an all time top 10 band that i've loved for 20+ years (and have repeatedly supported in these forums over the years) - Thank you for the music and can't wait for the follow up to Childhood Eyes! Looking forward to the London show later this year :D

I wish music could be seen as an art form so it could be subjective and we could all have our own opinions on it.
This song could be great, for a great cause and still not be something someone else may enjoy listening to or like the production of. No one is wrong in that sentence. Im a lifelong YC fan, loved JEW's Hear You Me and thought this was decent.

No need for gatekeepers on other people's opinions, its a shitty way for music to be presented.

  4. Ok, so by this logic the discussion about said art form ends when one person shares their opinion because responding with your thoughts on their opinion with your own shouldn’t be allowed. Makes sense.

You're challenging all the opinions that are different to yours by telling them why they are wrong. So its not leaving room for a difference of opinion to really live and a healthy back and forth discussion to take place.
You are certainly too talented an artist to give a toss about my opinion of your work. I genuinely mean that. But if you were interested to learn why some folks may not like what they are hearing, then give their opinion a fair chance and it enough of a moment to become a learning one.
