Anyone on the Sequoia beta find that apple notes is hardly useable? It's either really slow, freezing, or just doesn't open?

Amazon prime day here in the UK. Apple mouse and keyboards reduced 25%. In the market for a new mouse and went to apple shop on my lunch to try it out. Am i missing something? I thought it wasnt that comfortable! Any reccomendations for a mouse?

 

Also in the market for something similar to like a stream deck if anyone has suggestions?

seems a little snappier, and I definitely prefer having the audio settings and podcast info on new menus instead of swiping between tabs

 

Just did for about 5 minutes. Favorite thing I've noticed is getting to show notes of a podcast doesn't need that silly swipe anymore, which always drove me crazy.

I only just updated and poked around briefly, but I really don't like that I can only see four playlists on the home screen (and I can't figure out if there's any way to put them in a non-alphabetical order); it means that the playlists I use the most are not shown anymore. The menu when you click the three dots on an individual episode is a lot more useful now that it doesn't click into the episode page. I actually kind of miss the swipe function to see episode info and audio settings and wish you could either click the icon or swipe (or choose between them). I don't think the episodes in a playlist are any bigger than they were before, but (now that I'm actively thinking about it) I wish they could be a little slimmer to show more on screen at once.

My first impression is that I can see the overall vision for the app (it generally looks and feels pretty good) and I just hope that there are a few more customization options available with the next few updates.

 

Did you used to be able to see more? Are you talking about the top part that scrolls? I think they're in last played order.

 

I’m talking about the list of playlists. It used to be a vertical list (so I could see all of the ones I have set up). The current design of that bar in the middle here means I have to scroll over to get to most of them. It doesn’t seem like it reorders by recently played, in the way the recent episodes does. It’s a small thing, but I wish I could just have all of the small icons visible or prioritize the order differently (to always see my sports playlist, for example). I could rename things to goose the alphabetical order, but I’d rather just keep the names and customize how they display.

 

Mine definitely aren't alphabetized, but I don't know how it picks what goes there either.

Now that I'm looking at it again, it seems like the first bunch are alphabetized, and then there are more recently created ones after it. I wonder if there's maybe some creation date (post-when I made that first batch) in the past that it pulls from, and then it's oldest to newest from there? Whatever it is, an option to show more or reorder would be better.

 

Using the app a little more, I also miss the old control buttons from when the player is minimized.

 

If I recall correctly, you don’t use a case. did it survive?

 

The back glass exploded but I have AppleCare+ so it’s no big deal

 

New Overcast is great. Super speedy. I was just thinking that the old UI felt outdated and Marco read my mind.

 

Do I have to do something to update to new overcast? Or just wait my turn as it rolls out

 

Just go to the App Store and refresh. Should be available now.

 

Am I the only one who doesn't like Overcast?

 

It’s my favorite of all the podcast apps I’ve tried but I have yet to find a single app I really love. I don’t think any have truly nailed the right combo of layout, organization, and ease of locating older podcasts.

 

That’s fair. I find myself always going back to Apple Podcasts.

 

not a fan of the new overcast update, going to give it a few weeks as UI changes tend to be whatever after enough exposure. not a fan of show notes being a click away rather than a slide

i hadn't experienced any sluggishness with the previous version that others apparently felt, i don't use playlists or queuing or carplay or siri or any of the complaints i've seen with the new update on reddit. just not a fan of the new look at the moment
