"Funny How?", "How to Exit a Room" and "I Think About You All the Time" are my top three on here and are about as good as the band gets for me.

I'm almost done spending time with Lovely Little Lonely and I think that will slide in either just above or just below the self-titled for me, behind You Are Ok but ahead of XOXO. Those are the only four I've listened to so far.

 

I think I feel about You Are OK the way some feel about this one. That album is just so my shit.

 

I never connected with this album and it really bummed me out at the time.

 

That album is great and holds a lot of sentimental value for me

 

I was right, this has become my new second fave. Pretty easily.

I was always surprised this one got way more love than XOXO, which I remember getting a pretty lukewarm reaction. I think that album is a lot more varied and interesting and just has way stronger hooks. It also ends with my favorite closer in their discography, versus this one which ends on a complete whiff for me.

 

Better than Mars and Flowers!!!? I love me some Face but man

 

Neither one of those are among my favorites on their respective albums. “Mars” repeats the chorus a few too many times for my taste, and I never particularly cared for “Flowers.”

"Face Towards the Sun" is my favourite song on XOXO and I think its their best closer too, at least of the albums I've listened to.

Yeah this album has risen to be my second favorite of theirs, even if the production is more claustrophobic and muted than the bombast of YAOK/LLL/XOXO. However, I justify it in my head by believing in the concept they were going for, which I believe to be the tail end of a wild bender of a night, where you're basking in the afterglow, yet morphs and flows into the self-loathing those 3-4am nights can bring on. It makes sense in my head lol

how to exit a room is one of the highest highs of their lengthy career

 

Maybe i'm the weird one then.

 

Yeah I agree that Face Towards the Sun is their best closer.

They sure know how to close an album. What a collection of songs.

Everything they do with Colby Wedgeworth becomes a favorite of mine, basically

This is my third favorite of theirs behind YAO and LLL, with considerable distance between this and whatever would be fourth

Xoxo is my fav Maine album

 

I put this one right up there with YAO for me, especially considering it felt like such a huge step forward after being a little let down by XOXO.

Favorite closer might still We’ll All Be tbh, though I think How Do You Feel is a better song

 

Yeah, this ended up becoming my second fave as well. Not surprised. Confirmed when the warm weather came back and I gravitated to this immediately. LLL is still #1.
