A dressed up version of the album he released as Bartees and the Strange Fruit in 2017!

Unlike last time I don't know anything but he has clearly been working on a new record, this song has been kicking around since Live Forever. Probably a teaser single - great song, that really quick fade-out at the end was a little disappointing as I was hoping for some instrumental jamming but I'll definitely take it. New textures, new sounds, still very much Bartees.

 

It's enjoyable. Probably won't return to it much.

 

to me, this song feels extremely constrained by the production. Like, the choruses are built to explode and soar, but the whole song sounds like it's being locked in a closet despite wanting to burst out

 

Man idk. I find the choices he’s making kind of frustrating. I thought the debut had so many cool sounds. Everything since to me has felt so streamlined, like he’s sawed off and smoothed out all the interesting part is this sound for something really, I hate to say it, boring. Idk, hopefully the rest surprise me.
