  1. Finally gonna watch this sometime this week. I usually default to subs, but Miyazaki movies have pretty good dubs sometimes. Anybody have a preference with this one?

Can't speak to preference since I've only seen it in English at the theater, but that dub was excellent. Stellar voice talent all around. That said, I'm planning to rewatch the Miyazaki movies in Japanese at some point here soon, to appreciate both.

First time a Ghibli film has dual audio on Apple TV. Hopefully they release the other films in 4K with dual audio options digitally. Better yet, just give us a 4K box set.

While we're on the subject, can anything be done to synchronize the timing of digital and physical movie releases? Understanding that manufacturing takes time, I'd love to see my Blu-ray for this come in the mail, say, tomorrow, but I guess that's exactly the pressure releasing to digital early is supposed to create...

Sorry, answered my own question there.

I watched the documentary about Miyazaki making The Boy and The Heron last night and it was wonderful. Almost confirms he’ll continue making movies until he dies (don’t quote me on that).

  19. You'd think Max would've screamed at me about this being available, will be watching it asap.

I think there are now three documentaries on Miyazaki and all of them are worth watching! Seeing him in his element is inspiring and makes me want to create, while also just wonderful to watch him give out jellybeans to the kids in his neighborhood, grieve the losses of close friends and family, wonder about the meanings of his own films, criticize AI… dude is a magnificent human being.

Did anyone here buy the 4K film? I’ve never purchased an animated film in 4K. Is there really much of a difference.

Curious about this too. I bought the Blu and it looks great; hard to think the 4K would be noticeably sharper.
